YES.

Despite the freedom of choice, I think (know) God is omniscient, knowing all the forks in the road we will take, and everything is already mapped out. Kind of depressing.

I have not figured out how predestination (preordination?) and free will can work together.
I can understand the idea of God knowing what will happen and having free will.
But not if it's been decided for us. I think I posted a thead about it and received an answer that seemed fairly reasonable, but I'm still a bit unclear about this.

Regardless of my lack of being able to put it together. I do think our decisions are important and that our choices do always have consequences.

It's a heavy revelation, but take comfort in that he knew exactly how you would turn out when he purchased you.

bolded absolutely. God inhabits eternity. He's outside the dimension of time. We're inside it. We have free will. He just knows what it will be.

Matthew 18:7
Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh!

I just got finished reading Justin Martyr's treatment of the subject of predestination ... He was a second century Chrisian. Worth a read!

Saint Justin Martyr: First Apology (Roberts-Donaldson)

Specifically Chapters 43 and 44 (the chapters are actually just single paragraphs)

Blessings,
Stephanie

Ps: my understanding is that our current view of a more fatalistic, unconditional predestination is largely thanks to Augustine of Hippo (late 4th/early 5th century)

Yes, I believe in predestination because God knows all and brought all into existence, but it is not depressing to me because I believe that in the end, all are predestined to be restored to God in the end. (Romans 8, Colossians 1, Ephesians 1) All will be made subject to God so that He may be all in all. (1 Cor. 15) God bless and peace.

Default Do you believe that we are predestined?

No . . . of course not, especially not in the Calvinist sense. But if we interpret it to mean that we are ALL predestined to achieve our purpose as a species . . . then that makes sense. Calvinist predestination would make of us ignorant robots mindlessly and mechanically proceeding to an unknown (by us) but completely determined (by God) fate. It is a preposterous idea because we are given Dominion by God's express Sovereign Will! Dominion requires our free will (within the confines of all God's laws).

Well we certainly know THIS much. YHVH knows the end before the beginning, and HE created us. Also that our days are numbered. So perhaps there's something to it.

I agree with this.
