I am not a christian, but was raised in the south and love the christian hymns. They are so beautiful.

Yes, they are! Although we don't sing them as much anymore in my church, I can still remember most of the words. They are imbedded in my mind & heart.

Yes they are for that is the language of God

Psalm 30:4
Sing to the LORD, you saints of his; praise his holy name

Psalm 96:1
Sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth.

Ephesians 5:19
Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord,

If you get born from above in the Spirit of God they become alive.

An experience that is indescribably. Those born again are Justified by faith in Jesus Christ by God's Grace (unmerited favor). It's a free gift.

A decision you'll never regret.

I like some of them, but this is because they raise an emotional response in me. When I think about the lyrics, some of them can be so "off" scripturally. I catch myself singing them, though.

Likely because they are far more positive than the fire and brimstone sermon that follows.
