Well, ancient Israel did and God's Word condemns it.

Jeremiah 10:
1 Hear ye the word which the LORD speaketh unto you, O house of Israel:
2 Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.
3 For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.
4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.
5 They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good....

God wants you to worship Him the way He instructs and not follow the pagan customs of the Gentiles around you. Keep God's Feasts and Holy Days and "learn not the way of the heathen" as Jeremiah 10:2 says!

While i dont put up a Christmas tree, a close look at verse 5 says even though they do no evil, they dont do any harm as well. Now if you are bowing down and literally worshiping the tree the way the pagans did, that is a big problem

Jeremiah 10:5

New International Version (NIV)

5 Like a scarecrow in a cucumber field,
their idols cannot speak;
they must be carried
because they cannot walk.
Do not fear them;
they can do no harm
nor can they do any good.”

Sorry, but that is not what the Feast of Tabernacles is about. It has nothing to do the the Millennial Rule.

While im not against someone trying to do these feasts out of love rather than legalism. Looking at Leviticus & Numbers side by side, how can one possibly keep this feast now since the Temple was destroyed in 70AD and what is actually required of them in the verses below...burnt offerings and what the offerings were.

Leviticus 23:33-44

The Feast of Tabernacles

33 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 34 “Speak to the children of Israel, saying: ‘The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the Feast of Tabernacles for seven days to the Lord. 35 On the first day there shall be a holy convocation. You shall do no customary work on it. 36 For seven days you shall offer an offering made by fire to the Lord. On the eighth day you shall have a holy convocation, and you shall offer an offering made by fire to the Lord. It is a sacred assembly, and you shall do no customary work on it.
37 ‘These are the feasts of the Lord which you shall proclaim to be holy convocations, to offer an offering made by fire to the Lord, a burnt offering and a grain offering, a sacrifice and drink offerings, everything on its day— 38 besides the Sabbaths of the Lord, besides your gifts, besides all your vows, and besides all your freewill offerings which you give to the Lord.
39 ‘Also on the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when you have gathered in the fruit of the land, you shall keep the feast of the Lord for seven days; on the first day there shall be a sabbath-rest, and on the eighth day a sabbath-rest. 40 And you shall take for yourselves on the first day the fruit of beautiful trees, branches of palm trees, the boughs of leafy trees, and willows of the brook; and you shall rejoice before the Lord your God for seven days. 41 You shall keep it as a feast to the Lord for seven days in the year. It shall be a statute forever in your generations. You shall celebrate it in the seventh month. 42 You shall dwell in booths for seven days. All who are native Israelites shall dwell in booths, 43 that your generations may know that I made the children of Israel dwell in booths when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.’”
44 So Moses declared to the children of Israel the feasts of the Lord.

Numbers 29

Offerings at the Feast of Tabernacles

12 ‘On the fifteenth day of the seventh month you shall have a holy convocation. You shall do no customary work, and you shall keep a feast to the Lord seven days. 13 You shall present a burnt offering, an offering made by fire as a sweet aroma to the Lord: thirteen young bulls, two rams, and fourteen lambs in their first year. They shall be without blemish. 14 Their grain offering shall be of fine flour mixed with oil: three-tenths of an ephah for each of the thirteen bulls, two-tenths for each of the two rams, 15 and one-tenth for each of the fourteen lambs; 16 also one kid of the goats as a sin offering, besides the regular burnt offering, its grain offering, and its drink offering.
17 ‘On the second day present twelve young bulls, two rams, fourteen lambs in their first year without blemish, 18 and their grain offering and their drink offerings for the bulls, for the rams, and for the lambs, by their number, according to the ordinance; 19 also one kid of the goats as a sin offering, besides the regular burnt offering with its grain offering, and their drink offerings.
20 ‘On the third day present eleven bulls, two rams, fourteen lambs in their first year without blemish, 21 and their grain offering and their drink offerings for the bulls, for the rams, and for the lambs, by their number, according to the ordinance; 22 also one goat as a sin offering, besides the regular burnt offering, its grain offering, and its drink offering.
23 ‘On the fourth day present ten bulls, two rams, and fourteen lambs in their first year, without blemish, 24 and their grain offering and their drink offerings for the bulls, for the rams, and for the lambs, by their number, according to the ordinance; 25 also one kid of the goats as a sin offering, besides the regular burnt offering, its grain offering, and its drink offering.
26 ‘On the fifth day present nine bulls, two rams, and fourteen lambs in their first year without blemish, 27 and their grain offering and their drink offerings for the bulls, for the rams, and for the lambs, by their number, according to the ordinance; 28 also one goat as a sin offering, besides the regular burnt offering, its grain offering, and its drink offering.
29 ‘On the sixth day present eight bulls, two rams, and fourteen lambs in their first year without blemish, 30 and their grain offering and their drink offerings for the bulls, for the rams, and for the lambs, by their number, according to the ordinance; 31 also one goat as a sin offering, besides the regular burnt offering, its grain offering, and its drink offering.
32 ‘On the seventh day present seven bulls, two rams, and fourteen lambs in their first year without blemish, 33 and their grain offering and their drink offerings for the bulls, for the rams, and for the lambs, by their number, according to the ordinance; 34 also one goat as a sin offering, besides the regular burnt offering, its grain offering, and its drink offering.
35 ‘On the eighth day you shall have a sacred assembly. You shall do no customary work. 36 You shall present a burnt offering, an offering made by fire as a sweet aroma to the Lord: one bull, one ram, seven lambs in their first year without blemish, 37 and their grain offering and their drink offerings for the bull, for the ram, and for the lambs, by their number, according to the ordinance; 38 also one goat as a sin offering, besides the regular burnt offering, its grain offering, and its drink offering.
39 ‘These you shall present to the Lord at your appointed feasts (besides your vowed offerings and your freewill offerings) as your burnt offerings and your grain offerings, as your drink offerings and your peace offerings.’”
40 So Moses told the children of Israel everything, just as the Lord commanded Moses.

Well, we don't sacrifice animals. They are the part of the ceremonial law that is no longer required to be kept. But we still dwell in temporary dwellings and rejoice at God's Feast of Tabernacles without sacrificing animals and making meat and drink offerings. We listen to sermons each day and spend our second tithe on foods we could not afford during the year and fellowship with others who have the same religious beliefs as we do. Many do not want to come home from the Feast and go back out into the world after the experience.

One of our songs is taken from Ps 133. It reflects the Feast attitude:

Other sciptures reveal that you are to save 1/10 of your gross income for a whole year is to be spent on food and drink and other things needed in order to attend the Feast for yourself and others who may be attending with you. For many in God's true Church this is the highlight of the whole year. For over a week, God's people can come out of this present evil world and truly rejoice in a Festival of God where God commands them in the scriptures to rejoice.

Deu 16:
13 Thou shalt observe the feast of tabernacles seven days, after that thou hast gathered in thy corn and thy wine:
14 And thou shalt rejoice in thy feast, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy manservant, and thy maidservant, and the Levite, the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are within thy gates.
15 Seven days shalt thou keep a solemn feast unto the LORD thy God in the place which the LORD shall choose: because the LORD thy God shall bless thee in all thine increase, and in all the works of thine hands, therefore thou shalt surely rejoice.

These days are part of God's Feasts for God's People -- both physical and spiritual Israel.
This ^^^ is what is called "Christian anarchy." (the Kingdom of God) or, God dwelling in man continually, and with man's conscious understanding of His presence within.

Surprisingly, many Christians blatently deny Christ to be within them. These are "clouds without water."

Blessings,
brian

Pretending to keep the laws of God's Feasts neither pleases God nor impresses men.

So you can believe your 'the true church'.

But my God Seekings True Worshipers
who Worship Him IN Spirit and IN Truth.

I built my "booth" yesterday. It's actually called a Succah, and the holiday is actually called Succos. Of course I'm a Jew (the real kind), so I actually have an obligation to dwell in my Succah during the holiday.

BTW, the obligation to dwell in the Succah is not for 8 days. After Hoshana Rabba (the 6th day of the 8-day holiday, assuming you include Shemeni Aztzeras and Simchas Torah as 2 of the 8 days), there is no longer an obligation to dwell in the Succah. But of course, that's found in the Talmud, of which I think none of you have access.

You'll have to forgive me. I really don't mean to sound smug, <begin smug part of post> but I find it really funny when Chrstians attempt to follow Jewish halacha (Torah law) and minhag (Jewish custom). Kind of reminds me of those instruction manuals you get when you buy Japanese electronics, where the Japanese copywriters have attempted to translate their instructions originally written in Japanese into English. Totally unintelligble. Your church says you can fulfill the obligation to dwell in a Succah by checking into a hotel? That's a good one! I'm going to have to share that with my friends when I daven mincha in shul tonight. <end smugness>
