But solid food belongs to those who are full age,
who by use have their senses exercised to discren both good and evil.

Yes, here's the rest I should have said.
It helps to read the scriptures before it.

What is the Doctrine of Laying on of Hands?
It is symbolic of the hands of God being placed upon a son/daughter for assurance that the Father loves him/her. When inspired of God, the Holy Spirit or healing or some other gift is imparted to those who believe by the laying on of hands. It is only one of many symbolic ways that God uses to impart the Holy Spirit or healing or gifts.
The doctrine of the laying on of hands can refer to various things. One of its primary purposes is demonstated in Acts 8:14-19, in which we read:
Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost. And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money, Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.
So, the gift of the Holy Ghost is given by the laying on of hands.
The laying on of hands is also used when an individual is ordained to an office. For example, Moses ordained Joshua by the laying on of hands (see Numbers 28:18,23 and deuteronomy 34:9). In the New Testament, Paul and Barnabas were ordained and set apart for missionary work by the laying on of hands.
Healing the sick is another purpose behind the laying on of hands. It was a very common practice of Jesus and on His Apostles. And finally, the laying on of hands is used when giving blessings of other sorts, such as when Ephraim blessed Ephraim and Manasseh.

So who laid their hands on those gathered on the day of Pentecost?
Hands? Sounds like a sacramental to me. Like water in Baptism.
