Hate is one of those emotions/attitudes that is contagious. You hit someone in the face and immediately that person seems to have contracted the disease and decides to hate back by returning the hit.
But let's think deeper for a moment using that example.
Bully A hits Innocent B in the face. B returns a hit on A. <---- Hatred has now gone from one person to the second person. This shows that Hate is a contagious disease.
Hatred doesn't care who hit who so long as Hatred infected another person.
Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
That verse above is showing that the real enemy is not flesh and blood but it is giving in to these powers in high places (such as Hatred). When we let hatred prevail - we allow the spread of evil.
One way Jesus did from Luke 23: 34, as Jesus said ...``Father forgive them, for they know not what they do``.... As if we take Jesus lead , is to ask forgiveness for the trespasses, and injustice that people put on us , is a way to resist the hate and others sins against people which may come up , this way we can be released from unforgiveness as we pray for the people , which will prove to God that we are children of God .... If people continue to attack us we can go and forsake them to Jesus , and ask Jesus to release us from the issue , which is scriptural Word of God .....

Yeah, I think that speaks at the heart of the message of Christ. His message was all about resisting our urges of the flesh - to not cater to the impulses of our desires. To have True Faith is to overcome own nature which would desire to lash out and fight back.
Mat 5:39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.
In that verse above Jesus says RESIST NOT EVIL but goes on to say to turn the cheek. Again, Jesus is showing that the real evil is to GIVE IN to the temptation to smite them back. That the real evil is the hate or retaliation. Sure we may pay a price in pain for that type of Faith but that appears to be the trial of Faith for anyone that is a True Christian.
