Actually it is not the scripture being challenged, but those who claim to believe it, but who do not understand it.

Well enlighten us. What does "do not" mean to you?

It means just because you have read the bible you do not necessarily understand it or know the truth.

That's an odd way of seeing the term "do not". Can you provide evidence to support your claim that this is what it means or are you just baiting?

The most common false "god" being set up is the Bible itself and it is done to allow those who do to go back to the "Egypt" of Law, never really having tasted the liberty that is in Christ and the direction of the Spirit that Jesus promised.

I have never heard of anyone worshiping the bible or setting it up as a god. But I know many that believe God is capable of saying what He means and has done so. They just accept what God has said. It's worshiping God by believing what He say's over some man or woman. Doubt is the devils domain, Always!

Yes, the scribes and Pharisees knew the scriptures but did not understand them, also the disciples knew them but did not understand them. We don't get to pick and choose what scripture means, Jesus Christ the Light within is how we gain understanding from them.

Too many do NOT believe that Christ is the mediator of the New Covenant. They pretend that it is still in the future . . . like so many things. Why 2000+ years is NOT sufficiently in the future for these people is never clearly explained. Under the New Covenant God has "written in our hearts" and Christ abides with us providing the Comforter (Holy Spirit) within our consciousness to guide us to the truth. Those who do not believe Christ are afraid to trust what is in their hearts because our hearts could not be trusted under the Old Covenant. They simply do not believe Christ, period.

Serious question. How told was Peter when this happened?
