Does the Catholic Church believe in the devil? | Catholic Answers
Sure, the RCC has no choice but to say this. What else could they say?

However, off the record some well educated priests will probably tell you Satan is an allegoric figure. However, during the rite of Baptism they will ask ALL to reject Satan. It is not hypocrisy, it simply means following the tradition.

The notion that this so called devil is out to get you with no respect for your free will and yet God(almighty, all power full, whose arm is not short to save) doing anything remotely good, has is hands tied by man's free will, is rather absurd. Then it gets more absurd, that the Savior God is going to do to all who do not believe, that which this so called has been seeking to do through our lifetime. You simply cannot make this stuff up.

It only works if folks have the mindset of 2000 years ago which was rooted in mythology..

In an irrational world, anything is possible.

A world in which this devil unawares is proclaimed to be God.. Recant or die and believe or die, to me is of the same spirit. A very unfortunate way to have your fete sealed.

There are barbaric tree naturalists around Flagstaff? Dang, missed them!!

Where? At Sizzler or out on Mars Hill? If they're on Mars Hill, they're astronomers not barbaric tree naturalists. Though, since they all come out at night, I can understand your confusion.

I thought he was talking about killing trees for Christmas, isn't that barbaric?
Or should we resort to superstition, as in "the devil made me do it!"

Care to join me for a barbaric, Mocha Frappuccino or Caramel Macchiato?
Or would that be to humanistic, or below ones dignity to be seen in public?
