Vizio, I suspect anything other that bible idolatry seems like weird theology to you.
No...not really. I don't worship the Bible. But it is reasonable to suggest that if God gave us his word, perhaps we ought to know what it says.
I'm curious though....how many of the people here that think organized religion is bad, what their opinion of homeschooling is? Dude, do you think very highly of parents that decide to pull their kids out of the public school system to school them at home?

Oh, please, please, please atheist home schoolers.... Please chime in on this thread.
Is it possible to love God without organized religion?
Yes . . . but even more important . . . some organized religions that adopt the fear of God and eternal torment in Hell as dogma actually corrupt and prevent the love of God. Love and fear are completely incompatible. Love casts out ALL fear . . . and vice versa. If you fear you cannot truly love . . . and if you truly love there is no fear.

Firstly, I don't necessarily consider organized religion to be bad.
I consider your version of it to be bad.
By far the majority of the people I know and care about identify as Catholic, Anglican, Jewish or some other established religion. I have no beef with them.
My beef is with Fundamentalists. They hurt people.
As to the homeschooling thoughts: I only know one person who homeschooled her children - my sister. After your god got his fingers around her psyche's throat, she decided her own Grade 10 education sufficed to teach her three daughters/my nieces until they reached high school age.
Her eldest daughter is virtually illiterate, is living on welfare and has four children by three different fathers - none of whom are currently involved with her or her children.
Her middle daughter ran away to live with a man when she was 17. She too, can barely read or write but finds work as a cashier in a variety store. As far as I know, she remains childless.
The youngest niece has suffered from Alopecia since she was six. She's a teen now and wears wigs. I don't know anything about her ability to read or write. I've not been allowed to see her in several years. But based on her sisters' track records....
So - I think if a parent is not a trained educator/teacher, or at the very least, well educated themselves - it's a really, really stupid idea.

Vizio, I'm curious what relation you see between homeschooling and not being part of an organized religion?
