Evil is simply absence of GOOD. There is no such thing as evil.
A good analogy is COLD. There is no such a thing as COLD.
COLD is a state where there is no HEAT. Heat can be defined and is energetic. COLD is absence of energy.
Saint Augustine solved this issue in the 4th century. I am perplexed by seeing folks that are puzzled by this in the 21st century. I suspect these folks have the barbaric mindset of the OT. The God of the OT was described as violent, vindictive, and capable of evil.

If God did not create evil then God did not create light and darkness. You can't deny one without denying the other.
God is not evil in creating evil.
You say "Evil is simply absence of GOOD. There is no such thing as evil."
You contradict yourself above. If Evil is the absence of good then there is such a thing as evil since there is an absence of good at times.

Hi Julian Of course God created evil, He created everything. How could we know good without evil. God also never lies but He sends lying spirits. He never tempts us but sends tempters. God uses evil for good in the end and when its need to be used is done God will get rid of evil. God uses all these thing to transform man into his image which He is doing at this time. When He is done evil and temptation and lying will be done away with.

Very excellent thoughts sschulz! Excellent indeed! Thank you!
Without evil there is no good, same as without darkness there is no light. God uses opposites to teach us a lesson, the trouble is its a first hand lesson much of the time. Julie Ferwerda gives this a good treatment in her free PDF book 'Raising Hell'.

"Evil" is a value judgement in relation to a person. Calamity is the event that causes such a judgement. The Calamity is a part of the world God created, the value judgement is ours.
