Oklahoma’s Black Mass, Texas and the ‘Patent Nonsense’ of Nihilism | CatholicVote.org

"In case you hadn’t heard, some satanists in Oklahoma City are putting on their annual edition of the black mass (I wouldn’t dignify it by capitalizing it) on Sept. 21, complete with, they say, a Consecrated Host."

Many churches here and around the world have been praying for this to be canceled.

Gov. Mary Fallin condemns 'black mass' | News OK

"Gov. Mary Fallin issued a statement Monday condemning the “black mass” that satanists plan next month in a small basement theater at Civic Center Music Hall.
Fallin said the ritual, intended to mock Catholic beliefs, “should be equally repellent to Catholics and non-Catholics alike.”

Those evil "Satanists" are getting exactly what they want: publicity and wailing scaredy-cats with their panties in a bunch.

Actually, it is a learning moment. We have been praying and fasting. Growing closer to God in the process.

Fr. Paul Nicholson

2 hrs ·

This is so unpleasant to watch, but it gives a pretty interesting picture of the disturbed individual behind the horrible outrage of the planned Black Mass in the Oklahoma Civic Center on September 21.
Please keep up your rosaries, mortifications and abstinence and lets besiege heaven against hell.
Joan Andrews Bell says we should go and be present outside the civic centre on the day of this blasphemy, like the holy women at the foot of the Cross. We should be present to accompany Our Lord, like we do at abortion chambers where the little babies are murdered.
I agree.

You folks are making a mountain out of a molehill. In other words, those so-called Satanists don't believe in any actual Satan at all. It's just a symbolic and rebellious gesture. All they do is just believe in pleasure-seeking hedonism and self-indulgence. Other than that, they do not commit any criminal offenses at all.

The fact that they are advertising it would indicate that seeking attention is the number one priority. Clearly, nothing illegal is happening. In America, any group can put together any worship service so long as they are not committing any obvious crime.

I do not see what is so wrong with satire and mockery anyway. Weird Al has made millions off of satirizing other people's work. Social satire is a necessary component for a healthy culture. The healthiest persons are those who can laugh a little.
Consider my favorite, the Church of the Sub Genius.

I had the pleasure of meeting this guy at a book signing. He is a great comedian, but he did offer something serious. He said
"What good is one's faith, if it cannot stand up to any test?" Mockery, satire, all are tests, and some people, perhaps because of fear, and a deeper inner resentment of their beliefs, or maybe a deep seated doubt of their beliefs, cannot stand mockery or anything that challenges their shallow and fragile reality.

Let the Oklahomans have their fun. They are not harming anyone.

laregekingcat---how would you feel if a group took your family, your mother, father, sister, and brother and made a play making them look like fools, dancing around them naked and spitting on them?

Would you laugh and clap and find it great entertainment?
