I've often thought about angels and how they serve God. I personally believe that we each have a guardian angel that is sent by God. A week ago I was driving on the interstate and started moving into the right-hand lane. I looked back and thought the black SUV was in the far right lane. Suddenly I realized I was only inches away from taking the back passenger side of my car into their front tire.

Suddenly my arm felt like it was being yanked and the steering wheel turned left so I'd get back in my own lane. Some may say it was a reaction without thinking, I know I tried to rationalize it away. But there is no way it was because my arm was completely relaxed when the wheel moved. While I don't have biblical proof that we have guardian angels, I have my own personal experiences. I don't believe angels were created to serve man, but to serve God.

Funny you say this at this time.

My mother keeps telling me that every human on earth has a guardian angel and a devil allocated. These two characters follow us wherever we go. She just told me this earlier this week, again.

When we sin, the devil rejoices and the angel takes a slap. Then it's vice versa.

I'll admit that she used this dogma in my youth, first time, trying to help me fight my "pornography addiction"

Any son has had the embarrassment of being caught with a skin mag by his father in his teens? I did

There is absolutely no scriptures to indicate that everyone has a guardian angel. Yes, angels watch over us per God's instructions, but there is nothing to indicate that for every person there is a single "guardian" devoted to every move he makes.

Regardless of whether we each have a guardian angel...your story was definitely edifying. Thanks for sharing.

Some people refer to these as "spirit guides". Same concept, but for some reason that phrase freaks a lot of western religious people out.

No doubt everybody has at least one, regardless of belief. I know I have several, as I've had MANY similar experiences and some completely overt experiences similar to the OP.

Kind of awesome how the world actually works.

An absolute statement that is absolutely wrong.

Matthew 18, Acts 12, and Hebrews 1....just to name a few.

It would be nice if......nothing...forget it.

A good book I read years ago is "Angels, angels, God's secret agents" by Billy Gramham. I thought it was very good and full of scripture to show the purpose God has for angels.
Angels were created by God. They are God's messengers. They often say, "do not be afraid" And when we die we will not become angels.

I'd like to add Psalm 91. satan even tried to mistate it when he tempted the savior in the desert.

yes, I believe God has given me a hedge of protection over my life and my household when i am gone. We know that in this day the Holy spirit is the power that restrains until it is taken away. (1Thes)

I should be dead given what i did in my youth. i recall three times that i practiced total wrecklessness

1) with my friends in the car i passed 9 cars on a two lane road coming back from then beach in the blind and made one get off the road age 16

2) at the lake a buddy of mine and I were throwing a rock each at a duck. this animal flew between us as we threw and my buddies' 5 lb rock hit me in the lower rib cage instead of my head. i took some off of mine as i realized the genius of the duck escape age 17

3) at the lake I tried to impress my then girlfriend (my wife) on a rope swing. I went way up the hill to get the maximum swing. the rope had been retied with knots at the end. it had none the week before.
when i swung majesticaly way over the water, i let go and glanced down to see my legs hog tied by the knots. i swung below into a cliff with rocks all over the water upside down. my buddy, (now my brother in Christ) said i went in between two certain death blows. I came to a stop upside down in the water. age 26

I believe God has protected me for some future mission of pronouncing the gospel. I am taking every opp he gives me now on a personal basis but the Word is welling up inside and my testimony i think someday will give people pause to consider that God is still in the redemption business. I think that my wife is proof that he had mercy on me. age 48 today
