we can be "nice" and limit the vulnerability. It aint pretty, but its all we got.
IF, and that is a BOLD, CAPS IF, we trust and love in this 2000 yer old man written book with the war-god-in-the-tiny-box and JESUS, what is there to fear?
Either He will see us through it, OR we will be transformed in the wink of an eye to be with Him...
Do we REALLY TRUST what we profess to believe--HE IS WITH US ALWAYS....
Thanks you. We goddless bastards have been saying this all along - you cannot apply literally the teaching of the gospels - let alone the Bible. You need to use a reasoned social conscience and morality and apply that to the Bible too. We could have told you that on the basis of Greek philosophic thought. You don't need to get the opinion of Aquinas.
Totally different issue to me because of the parties involved.
There are reasons to hold off for right now - safety being one of them. Just because a situation is presented does not mean that we have to act on it when they want, and how they want.
Compassion applies both to your loved ones and to your neighbor. But compassion for your loved ones, or your nation takes precedence over compassion for your neighbor, or in this case for those of another nation seeking refuge.
Since there is no way of knowing how many terrorists might seek to enter this country in the guise of a refugee, awaiting a signal to carry out some plan of attack, it is not wise, or compassionate to your loved ones, or to your country to indiscriminately allow Muslim refugees into the country when those who mean us harm may be hiding among them.
Jesus didn't say you have to be stupid about helping others. Help those you can when you can but don't throw common sense to the wind.
I have many thoughts about this, and I am still working through it...Let's think about the Native people of this land, who helped refugees from European countries in the beginning. What happened to them? Now can we put ourselves in their shoes and see what happened to them?? What is different about this situation? Any thoughts? As an American citizen, I enjoy many blessings in this country but this country has not been clean since its foundation and through its development, and I won't forget this. As a believer, I should welcome anyone who is in need, and that vulnerability that was mentioned, will always be there. There are many things that we can do to try to limit the threat of attacks but we will always be vulnerable if we really love people. We must place our faith in God no matter what happens. God bless.
Saudi Arabia has over 100,000 unused tents that could accommodate a million refugees, yet they are accepting none. Why???
