A biblical standard today is whatever some religious bigot wishes to impose on the rest of the nation to make him feel better about himself.

There you go again...

What would you like to call all of the commands given by Jesus, and Paul to the churches?

And are you calling me a religious bigot?

Since Jesus didn't make any commandments to "churches" I would call it the same kind of misinterpretation you are prone to.

Paul was definitely into letting the ROMAN and CORINTHIAN churches know what HE considered to be necessary religious decorum.

But you don't believe Paul either regarding those churches. Paul saw it as an unpaid position, and all churches met in the homes of believers. You attend a nice church "building," pay a pastor a goodly portion of the donations that come in, and haven't enough money to do the kind of protracted service to others that both Jesus and Paul knew was necessary to exhibit a Christian life.

If you wish to propose a 'Christian" kind of Sharia law on other Americans, you are a religious bigot.

Maybe the question needs to be how American culture has moved away from biblical standards... none of which is described in your OP.

RESPONSE:

Really? Which of these three (church, council, or prophet) wrote the Ten Commandments?

I think this is true. Those poor, poor, deluded men.

I didn't say Jesus directly commanded the church. People still follow His commands.

Are they standards, suggestions - what should they be called?

Not the Holy Spirit working through Paul, huh... got it.

Obviously you don't know what I believe. It's not up to me how people run a church, or you, or Paul in himself. If the Holy Spirit leads the congregation to pay for the pastor's livelihood - what's that to you?

Do you think Jesus Christ would want His laws enacted on America? Hey - He did this already with the people of Israel on the OT. Is He a bigot?

Who is "everyone"? In my house I don't beat my kids. I haven't spanked them in probably 10 years. My wife barely knows how to cook (she does make a good enchilada casserole), and no--I am not advocating for "blue laws" according to the Bible.

Who would you trust to enforce biblical law today?

Would it be the "church?"

Or a council?

A trusted modern day prophet?
If a local jurisdiction wants to enact some laws, they should be allowed to. Of course, it's as long as they don't violate guaranteed freedoms.

I can't tell where you come down on this. I can tell you that you are wrong. Not everyone wants to live the way you have outlined. In any case they don't need some kind of morality police to enforce what happens inside their own homes.
