If someone asks me what denomination I am, I would say I am a non-denomination Christian.
When I was younger I attended a presbyterian church.
I happen to think that denomination within Christians tends to create division rather than unity.
I believe if you are a Christian and a follower of Jesus Christ, the denomination you belong to doen't matter. We should support one another in Jesus as disciples of Christ.
I agree with you. We can become so divisive that I often wondered about whether or not a person, who says that he or is is truly born again, to think a religion can save his or her souls over the finished work of Jesus Christ. I am a born again believer first, who happens to fellowship with other born again believers who call themselves Baptists. That's how I let people know. The question for all of us christians is, are you a denominationalist or a christian? Just think about that because so many people who call themselves Baptists, Presbyterians, Methodists, Catholic, Jehovah's Witnesses, Orthodoxed Christians, Lutherans, and Mormon still have to be BORN AGAIN, and fully understand that if you aren't BORN AGAIN, you can't see God's kingdom John 1:3.

The bible states that there will be some wheat/tares within finding Truth. Truth divides as much as it unites. Ideally, when we strive to find Truth - we will find that many obstacles will come about within our walk. We will have to study and pray to God to discern which things come before us are true, and which ones are false, so we can rightly divide the Word and do God's Will.

I agree. Even though i define myself as an Assembly of God person, when we face God the question is gonna be asked do you know my son? Not what denomiation of christian were you.
I proudly respond by telling them that I am Catholic. For hundreds of years
Christians belonged to the One, Holy, Universal and Apostolic Church until the Protestant Reformation in the 16th century. Now all heck has broken loose and we have over 20,000 Christian denominations. Ouch!

Even non-denomination can be a "denomination." What are we? Believers in Christ or followers of Christ.

Well said, Stephen..I agree that there are many obstacles in our search for the truth.IMO. we just have to accept the truth that we can find within us..That truth within is the promise of Jesus that he would not leave us alone, but would send a comfortor..a teacher...a guide..I depend on that spirit of truth and call myself a believer..

Yup. As the Psalm goes, Love and Truth have met together, righteousnous and peace have kissed each other. The Lord has sent us his son's spirit of Truth, and with it we will be brought to the Love which God represents.

Wow, 38,000 Christian denominations. Thanks for the link.
I am concerned of the huge possibility that exists of false bible teachings and false scripture interpretations when there are so many denominations. In Acts we read how the apostles, especially Peter and Paul, went through great lengths to make sure all the new Christian churches were teaching the one and only teachings of Jesus. There was only one message, one interpretation. Now a days, we can have Billy Bob's House of Worship and preach HIS version of the Bible and influence dozens of followers, which in turn, can open their own house of worship and so on.
Be careful of false prophets my friends!
