It would apprat that Lewis was just not foolish enough to believe in penal substitutution.
Wow. One of only 2 theories of the atonement I've ever heard that has some eloquence (Mystic's being the other). Can't say I believe either, but I see the beauty in both.

What's with C.S. Lewis (and Charles Spurgeon), cannot people reason or think for themselves?

They are 2 lovely English gentlemen

Spurgeon, in his defense did have the ability to inspire you to rise above doubt and fear. Lewis I love him for the simple fact he loved going to the Pub and having a few.

Have you never read someone else's opinion?

It's what inspires people to devalue or condemn others that concerns me.
But I would be happy to share a pitcher with anyone who was at peace.

It's not about punishment and rewards, or a bloody fight to the end.
Unless, you can buy one-another a beer when all is said, and done.

Yes, yours, which isn't always factual.

I never thought of it that way. We are inspired and often we do not realize it. I know a couple of guys who were inspired by a bald headed prophet who called fire down from heaven, Jesus told them they didn't understand what was inspiring them.

No one else? You've never read a book, newspaper article or blog? There's nothing wrong with reading someone's opinion.

I've read a variety of opinions, or what people believe to be true. Apparently, you have adopted these as being close to your heart. Whereas, I see them as merely an expression of thought. It doesn't make them factual or something I desire to follow. Especially, if it creates an "us" and "them" mentality.

No one is greater or less-than, anyone else, period.
