But we have a direct and special revelation from God in his inspired, written word. We KNOW for a fact when we open and read it we are reading the words of God. Why would we not put that above something that we are unsure of?
How, exactly, do you KNOW that??? Ordering the bashing of babies heads on rocks or gutting of pregnant women with swords does NOT immediately bespeak words of God to me.
If I do find a contradiction between what my heart is telling me and the bible, I will use scripture to find the truth because if you dig deep enough in the word of God, you will find your answer, that is, if you use with discernment.
I searched scripture and came to believe in UR about 10 years ago.The bible did enlighten me. I studied the best scriptures supposedly proving ET and found out that forever really means aion which is just a period of time that God has allotted. Each other verse that troubled me I could find more than enough scripture or evidence to counter that.
By the way, the word is already written in our hearts, it is called a conscience. I know sociopaths don't have one but that is another subject.

Did you ever wonder how God breaks the vicious cycle of unrepentant sin? If we are slaves to sin we can't do it ourselves, correct?
What I have come to believe on how He does it...think of an evil villain hanging from a cliff by a finger and the hero in the movie who was victimized brutally by him pulls him up to his safety instead of just lifting the finger. These are the hot coals He uses and they work every time.
