You realize, of course, that this is literally the "Christianity" forum. No one is suggesting your friends aren't spiritual, whatever that means...but are they Christians?
...but as you have admitted, Christianity does not own the book on what is, or is not Spiritual?
Are you discussing how man can be save from the wrath of God.
Believing in the Gospel of Christ is the only way to be save.
John 1:29 The next day John saw Jesus coming unto him, and said
"Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world"
Please notice, the word "sin" it is singular, meaning just a particular sin. I have search
other versions of the same verse, it is all the same, it is singular.
I am sure this particular sin was the sin of man's soul (without the man's body/flesh).
I mean soul , it can not be seen, can not be touch, no flesh,no bone, no skin.
This particular sin is unforgivable for God. In order to take it off it needs redemption.
Someone has to redeem the sin in order for man to be save from the wrath of God.
John 3:16 For God so love the world that he gave his only begotten son, that
whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
In the beginning, before God created the universe, there was only God, the Father almighty.
Then God created the first man. Gen 2:7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
In Gen 2:7 it literally mean "soul", that is no body, no flesh, no bone, no blood and no skin.
That man's soul was having eternal life.
But later in his life in the spiritual world something screwed him up.
He disobeyed God's command and f- up. As a result he died. His eternal life died.
Gen2: 16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat;
17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it. For in the day that thou eatest thereof, thou shalt surely die.”
Man's soul disobeyed God and lost his eternal life.
Then that soul was expelled from the spiritual world. Every creature in the spiritual world should have only eternal life otherwise no way that he should stay.
That was Adam's experience being immortal. Adam means people of the world.
Sometimes Adam mean a single person, the father of Cain and Abel, in earth life experience.
The Bible is the Living Word of God but it seems that nobody understood it.
If man thinks that this particular sin resides in him, that means he is not written in the Book of Life.
Only those in the Book of Life have the chance for salvation in the Day of Judgement.
If man thinks that he is redeemed that means the eternal life of his soul was restored to him
and he/she have a big chance to be allowed to enter into heaven.
Sins committed by the flesh/mortal body like murder, stilling, fornication etc. found in 10 Commandment
can be forgiven by God. It only requires repentance, ask God forgiveness and it is forgiven.
God is so mercifull, so compassionate.
This was the reason why God our Father sent Christ to earth to redeem that sin.

Just to clarify ...what is it, precisely, that Jesus is saving humans from ...is He saving them from the wrath of God? If so, why doesn't God just withdraw His wrath?
Seems to me it would be more workable and a heap more simpler.
* This was a question brought to the table at my last Home Group Meet-up.
That’s like saying, why don’t we let all lawbreakers go free, without punishment? The law would cease to be the law.

Ridiculous comparison and such thinking about God comes from the mind of man who believes in Jesus but has no idea who he really is, which is really an head scratcher considering how much emphasis they put upon the bible.
If you want to know what God is like look at Jesus, for your bible says HE is the exact representation of all that God IS, any other way of attempting to know what God is like, comes short as far as the east is from the west. If anyone is without excuse for such ignorance about God it has got to be bible fundamentalists.

Just wondering if we all agree on what the Gospel is according to the Word of God.
Matthew 4:23 "And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people."
Matthew 4:23 "And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people."
Yes, good point ^ above ^ because God's kingdom (thy kingdom come.....) was the theme of Jesus teachings - Luke 4:43.
And God's kingdom (Daniel 2:44) is the government Jesus instructed his followers to internationally declare according to Matthew 24:14; Acts 1:8

God will withdraw His wrath - Revelation 11:18 B.
Jesus will step in to rid the Earth of the wicked - Isaiah 11:3-4; Rev. 19:14-15; Proverbs 2:21-22; Psalms 92:7; 104:35.
So, Jesus is saving humans alive in that a great crowd of living people will be 'saved' (delivered /rescued) through the coming great tribulation of Rev. 7:14,9; Isaiah 26:20.
Because of the Resurrection Hope (Acts 24:15) people will also be saved from: enemy death - 1st Corinthians 15:26
Just to clarify ...what is it, precisely, that Jesus is saving humans from
Death.
The Resurrection changed EVERYthing.
When Jesus was Resurrected, the reign of death was over.
