Part of the reason why I think it is the idea of working for a living is because something about work was pretty much the first thing that God told them they would be "cursed" with. What if that wasn't a curse, but a description of what we were now sentenced to, as a result of reaping what we sowed? It was a condition of our ignorance which we had choices for figuring out, but made into the earliest "false religion" rather than address the lessons about equality the situation presented to us. We chose the brutal answer to our ignorance.
I wonder if anybody can see what it would mean to lose work? It is one of the ways that we judge each other. We aren't supposed to judge, but this one is so tempting.
There are two basic kinds of work. There is work about work, where we decide what needs to be done, the steps. There is actual work, where we do the steps, and simply them. Some work is a kind of collaboration of these two, but most work is one or the other.
Take away work, and what do you have? People are currently advocating for a universal basic income to make up for the coming lack of work. No work, no money.
One of the things about the Beast of Revelation, is that it is ridden by the woman. But the Beast seeks to destroy the woman. I think the economic order of the Beast is that of Communism. It could be some new form of Socialism, but I do not want to indict the European systems by making this post. That's not it's intention. This is different. I think that is the reason why the Beast is described as an eighth but belongs to the seven. As well, the coming of the Beast is surrounded with talk about a former system coming back that everybody thought had gone away. That could be a Cold War reference.
This fall of Babylon sounds like the false religion of leaders from humanism and liberalism, Capitalism and even Marxism who will fail as God's hand will be gone from their Works, and the wealth and prosperity will collapse where even gold and silver will be worthless, and the blood of many people who reject their Works including the religious will be the blood on the hand on babylon ...... See when leaders go against the plan of God then God's hand will be gone and so goes the wealth is the wrath of God
But I didn't start this thread to only talk about what I think. I was wondering what other people think.
So far, I think the first page is mostly about a general false religion, not being specific about men being obsessed over any particular creed or act. The thing about work is that it is a specific thing, which I can tie to the day of the fall.
That doesn't make me right. There are a host of other possibilities that also go back to that day. Among them is, definitely, the general falsity.
My personal vote goes to the idea of working for a living. I think that artificial intelligence will come along like a boulder thrown into the sea, and change everything about work.
I think it has to be a thing like work because we are talking about something that has held man since the fall. America, or the Catholic Church simply haven't been around that long. That doesn't mean it doesn't apply. I'm sure that there are a lot more likely culprits? I am always fascinated by what people think. There must be a lot of people who are equally curious?

We do know it is 'Not AI' that will bring an end to wars on Earth but that God will end wars as per Psalm 46:9
AI can't change a personality but with a person's consent a person can change and work to put on a godly personality with its characteristics as found listed at Galatians 5:22-23; Philippians 4:8.
The mysterious Babylon is calculated by the process of elimination as found in Revelation chapters 17 and 18.
Babylon is Not the political kings because she commits fornication with the political realm.
She is Not the commercial business world because the merchants morn the loss of her.

Only the teachings of Jesus are free from such falsehood. Biblical religious truth sets one free from the false.

Are you describing how Jesus' ministry was a template for the time of the end? Because He was constantly on His toes around the Pharisees and Sadducees. Some retain their dignity, no matter the adversity. Others don't. I have a mind that we will have to deal with a world dominated by people who never thought too deeply, about anything. It will take the sort of patience that He demonstrated, when He stood there and healed all of those who came to Him. That took a long time. It seems He took joy in it.
It didn't always come with glaring adulation. Recall how some of those He healed turned Him in to those previously mentioned authorities. Others would never have dreamed of doing such a thing. I get touched, thinking of the man who had been thrown out by the Sanhedrin, as he was approached by Jesus afterward. I mean, here is this guy who is so small, who has done a wonderful thing, but he has still been thrown out! Except, who should approach such a man, but God Himself. This is actual faith in action.
I should add that the disciples often contended with Jesus. They had a different image of either who He was, or a different image of God than He had. His image of God was unfaltering. But look at how they also struggled to understand the spiritual teachings behind the parables. Yet, they look so simple. On paper, any small child ought to be able to figure them out.
It got no easier when the Holy Spirit within Jesus called out that, "Unless you eat my body, and drink my blood, you will have no life in you" I think the majority of His followers left Him when He said that. When you think about it, it is kind of macabre, that He would say something so vampirish. It was probably the best example, for sure, but still creeps some people out to this day, so much so that they are afraid to discover that it means the same thing as bearing the fruit of the Spirit. Because, if you bear that fruit, it is because it comes out of your nature. It can't come from there, unless God is meeting you in the process. So, you gotta let Him in, and listen to what He has to say.
