How did you come to be the judge of Christians who have gone before us? You have the right to condemn others? We know who the judge is and He's not you.
Judge means separate good from evil. Everybody needs to do that.
Since Paul and the first generation of Apostles have long since moved on from this world, what is your proposed solution?
The only generation of Apostles has passed on, but we still have their words.
The solution: Stick to the gospel as given by Jesus, His Apostles and penmen. You can never go wrong if you do that.
Paul said it clearly.
“8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be under a curse! 9 As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be under a curse!” (Galatians 1:8-9)

I agree with your solution. That's why I'm a Catholic.

How do we know which books constitute God's inspired word and which books don't without trusting in the ones who came before us?
Whose interpretation of God's word are we to trust?
I think even you would agree that we can trust the New Testament for God’s plan of salvation, His design for our work, our worship and the organization of His church.

NT recorded that Apostles, some more than others, did not undestand Jesus.
All those people in your list would say they were sticking to the gospel. If you go by sola scriptura the only one doing it right was Clement since he's in Philipians 4 as being listed in the book of life.
I have posted the correct gospel of grace on here about every 2 days I'm curious if anybody paid attention to it.........since your eternal life depends on it and Jesus.........
