This is a link to a new movement that is taking place right now. I think this is a fantastic idea, because you can log on anytime and participate. It's a powerful way to be still and experience the closeness of God that He intended for us to have.

Marguerite Evans: The New Wave of Soaking Prayer

I'm sure all kinds of things could be read into this, but it's quite simple and Biblical. This is something that non-believers and atheists alike could participate in and not feel pressured to do anything but listen for the voice or presence of God that they wish to have proof of. The Lord will speak to the hearts and minds of those willing to listen.

Christians have been practising this for centuries.
Sounds like another name for a form of meditation, or contemplative prayer

good reminder - I've heard of her and seen an interview with her on Sid Roth's show. Very neat, and very God-breathed, I must say. Haven't experienced it, but would like to. But, you know, we can soak in Him anytime we want. Truly, people are so hungry for His presence, For His annointing, For Him to be so real and tangible. And, thankfully, He is

Gosh, wonder what this may be labeled next or if you'll be cast into exhile...
ooops, I think I need to go soak in My Father's Presence, until all this filth comes out!

I agree soaking, praying, spending quiet time, enjoying His peace, meditating, etc..I think all believers do this and have been doing this since the beginning..IMO it is our desire to feel His presence that makes us do these things..These are things we do without having to be trained by someone to do..The Holy Spirit usually is a pretty good teacher..and it is free for the asking ...

Its nice to see that mainstream has found a system to accept how important going into your closet and praying is, which is truly the only way to know God, and then be able to carry that stillness into every single moment of everyday, being led by that inner stillness on the path to overcoming and being filled with joy.
Individuals have always done this, but i have never seen it taught as acceptable and not from some other belief system, while being labeled new age, or buddhist etc...

thanks for the post Dotl,

godspeed,

freedom

I went back to the site and just as I thought..Send us your money, money, money for our kit to show you how to start your own "Wave of Soaking" AND Be sure to visit our online store for pamphlets, etc to help you get started... Am I the only one who finds a little humor in the use of the word soaking?

Freedom and Blue,

IMHO, surely The Holy Spirit is the best teacher, above all else. But, I look at these as resources to supplement - not that it's necesary to add outside resources, but definitely okay, if the source lines up with God's Word.

I agree, too that we do have everything we need. That still doesn't mean God won't use someone (or someone's ministry - God's ministry that He uses them in) to open us up to more of what He'd have for us - He made us to be relational and be connected and sometimes it's okay to gain ideas, incite, knowledge experience in Godly ways.

Yeah, Blue, Soaking is kinda funny - but my heart truly crys out to be saturated by God's Presence - like a sponge that is so full, because it's been soaking, that He over flows out of me.

Seriously, they aren't the only ones who God has called and used to bring about the idea of being immersed in Him. I do think, however, that for whatever reason God is using them mightily in the lives of many, many people. What the Lord has called clean, let no man call unclean - please don't debate me on how I used this scripture (apologize that I don't have the address), but as I was typing, the Lord dropped this into my heart. I think it apllies. Ask him

Lol!! Yes, I see it's already been labeled as meditation. Prayer and meditation are not the same. You can go ummmmm....ummmmm....ummmmm....all you want, but that is not prayer!

Now before someone says anything, yes....you can pray WHILE meditating, or vice versa. But meditation does not equal prayer.
