So do you think the Spirit can reveal to you Christ and Father, and bring you into Truth and assurance?

I pray to God to allow the spirit to guide me through the scripture and show me what I need to know..I thank God for giving me His Holy Spirit as my comfort and guide..I thank God for the gift of the holy spirit that dwells within me and will never leave even though I turn my back on God..His spirit is still there waiting for my return..Sort of like the prodigal sons father..Finally the holy spirit is my link to God, because I am too unworthy and sinful to approach Him on my own, as he is pure love, pure light..

I have seen no answer to my question as to what group do all of you belong to who have these teachings about the guiding of the Holy Spirit. Is it some dark secret ???
I would really like to know, because it seems to me that this belief is putting the Spirit ahead of Christ. I find no place where the Spirit suffered and died for our sins, or was resurrected so that we may have eternal life. I find no scripture that says the Spirit is to be worshipped, but it seems that is what is being done by those with this belief.
Naturally the Spirit is very important, but not to be exalted above Christ !

The Spirit and Christ are One, how could One be put above another.

Without the Spirit, Jesus would have done none of what He did. The Holy Ghost is the Power behind the Son.

godspeed,

freedom

(1 John 2:27 NIV) As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit--just as it has taught you, remain in him.

I trust Jesus words that the Holy Spirit will teach me...Therefore I see nothing sinful in asking for His guidance in anything I want to learn..

I don't see why anyone who believes in the trinity has a problem asking the Holy Spirit to guide them..Don't you claim that God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit are one and the same with different duties? The Holy Spirit being the intercessor among other things?

If a person believes that there has to be a bible verse for each and everything they practice or believe, then I fear that person may never find real peace..

Well, this is pretty strange! Why would Jesus say He would send " another Comforter" if He and the Spirit are one and the same ?
Obviously we are not one the 'same page' !

"One" does not mean the same person, it means one in purpose and power. United if you will. We are all called to become One with God, Jesus, and the Holy Ghost.

Jesus is the Second comforter. The Holy Spirit is the first comforter.

Remember the testimony of Stephen in the book of Acts.
He saw Jesus standing at the right hand of God the Father. They occupy different space, they are individuals. As well the Holy Spirit came down in bodily form, like a dove when Jesus was baptized.

godspeed,

freedom

I think maybe you're misinterpreting what at least some of us are saying.

Here's an example of an excerpt from a prayer I might pray prior to reading my Bible:

Father God, as I come to your Word I pray for wisdom, discernment, and understanding and that you would use your Holy Spirit to lead me to what you'd have me glean from it today. I pray that you would speak to me, correct me, and encourage me through your Word and that I would be sensitive to the Spirit's prompting me on the application of it to my life. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

That's all I am talking about Marian. I hope that clears some of that up.

Now may I ask you what role the Holy Spirit plays in your Christian walk and life?
