It seems that we like the quotes or versus. We have favorites and we like to share them. When I knew that I was in trouble with God I wanted to do something special. I looked up all the words that had mercy. Instead I made a prayer for mercy, I think God gave us his book to see what we can do with his works. 
Psalm 4:1. Hear me when I call O God of my righteousness; thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me and hear my prayer.
Psalm 5:1. Give ear to my words, O Lord consider my meditation.
