only applies to universalist and mystics. Were not the same, don't even have the same gospel as far as smoking and drinking. That is between the Christian and the Holy Spirit. I don't consider drinking and smoking a sin.
No it's the excessive smoking or drinking that is a sin. I don't know why people think drinking is evil, I think it is a wonderful pledge for someone to give something/anything up if they choose to to build self discipline, but Jesus drank too. Let's be honest, the reason people can't believe there are so many Christians is because this is majority wise a Protestant nation and the rest of the world's Christians are majority wise Catholic. Also, people aren't satisfied with the Churches, that's why less are going. I don't know if this is a new thing, hating on young people, or timeless throughout history, but it seems to me a lot of people seem to look down on the younger generations. Why do I hear so many older people speaking so negatively about the young? I'm sorry, did these people skip over young adulthood? And what is it that they think we all feel so entitled to? Sure, everyone does it sometimes, but is that how we are defined by the older generations? Maybe it is the older generations that feel entitled to deny and not the younger generations feeling entitled to receive. This is something new to me, not really sure what some of the older citizens are talking about, I mean, I've even heard my mother complain about it (she's not that old or anything, 50's) but what is everybody's problem with the younger generations? We look up to the older generations....but we're getting to be a bit more on eye level if they continue to look down at us. Maybe I've just had an isolated increase in this type of view lately, but it's been shocking!

In moderation it could be seen as medicinal. Unnecessary imo, there's plenty of other drugs I think that can release the same endorphins without the psychological dependency that is such a risk. It's a crutch, smokers in one theory are self-medicators. I smoke, and I think it is awful, but I try not to get too hard on myself sometimes because well, it sucks to beat yourself up to much! In my case, smoking is a sin because I over indulge in it and know that I am capable of not using it, so if I am self-medicating, I am doing it unnecessarily.
Maybe Fundy likes a pint like me and maybe he's a smoker ,don't smoke myself, i have no problem with smoking unless it's blown in my face
I find it's better to see beyond what we perceive as sin and seeing what we perceive as sinners and seeing them as God sees a person. .

LOL, why are you answering a question I directed to him? I am just asking out of curiosity. I want to know how he came to the conclusion.
I wasn't attacking him...
