Luke 21:20, 22, and 28 –
‘But when you see Jerusalem surrounded… For these are the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled… Now when these things
begin to happen look up and lift up you heads, because
your redemption draws near.’
What are the
'all things?' The whole OT prophecies or the OT prophecies concerning Jerusalem?
The Days of Vengence seem to be the final Days when the return of the Lord is near? Does it just pertain to Jerusalem or is it broader in scope? When that happens thier redemption is also near - this has to be what they thought as their delieverance from their enemies and the resurrection. Obviously the lifting up of the head and looking has to do with Jesus' return and the sign they were told about.
Why didn't all this happen when Jerusalem was surrounded or did it and how?
What is your take?
It seems that this verse with those of Matthew's are not doing the Preterists or the Futurists any justice.
The cumlative effect is hard to take. Everything is either fuzzy spiritual or has multiple references - the Transfiguration, The Triumphal Entry, Ascension, 70 A.D. ect. Yet they seem to be talking about the same time period and event.
