Quote:
But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up.
Scientific answer correlates perfectly with Peter's vision of earth's end and new beginning:

Quote:
Stars, including our sun, burn hydrogen as their main fuel component, fusing two hydrogen atoms together creates helium. They only have a finite amount, so what happens when they run out? They use the helium! When this occurs, a star will swell up, many times its own size, and become a red giant. When this happens to the sun (a good 5 billion years from now) it will become massive, expanding beyond the orbit of Venus, almost to Earth's orbit.

It is worth noting that by this time, Earth will be a Venus like planet on its own, as the sun will burn progressively hotter over the course of it's hydrogen fusing phase.

The red giant will fuse progressively heavier elements of matter together, until it can not hold itself together under its own gravity. It is at this time that the sun will experience what is called a planetary nebula. This is not nearly as violent an event as a supernova. Think of it more as a shedding of the red giants outermost layers, in a gently expanding cloud of gas, leaving a charred cinder that was once Earth. Whats left of the sun is a tiny remnant, known as a white dwarf, which will continue to glow white hot for hundreds of billion years.

This is not the end, however, but a new beginning. For that cloud of gas which our sun expelled will become a nursury of stars, and who knows? Maybe one of them will develop a planet with life-friendly conditions...
The beginnings of a new heavens and new earth possibly? We'll have to wait 5 billion years or so to find out.

Possibly 5.25 billion years since dating it is not exact science.

Elements is the term used to describe the "beggarly elements" of the Mosaic system, most notably, the rituals and items used in temple worship.

Gal 4:9 But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?

They already burned up, in the Jewish Roman War.

But science doesn't answer this:
Matthew 24:29
"Immediately after the distress of those days " 'the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.'

The fire of 2 Peter 3:10 isn'tabout the sun's fire. The sun in our system will be darkened, and the other stars will fall from there position.

Yes, that's EXACTLY what science says will happen to the sun. It will not supernova like the larger stars because it isn't big enough. Instead, it will DARKEN over several billion years until it turns into a dwarf and goes out like a light bulb, but not before melting the earth with fervent heat. There's no real definition of the period when this happens so "those days" could be billions of years in the future.

The Eternal Fire that the Lord is that will deplace the earth burns with NO carbon based, but through a pure white flame, not yellow, or red, or blue, but a pure Clear White.......Which is Supernatural, for this is the Lord of true Christianity..... What I'm trying to get at is that we are constantly trying to fit the date of Matt. 24:29 into a time slot for God, when 99.9% of the time God operates under the natural laws He's established. For example, a Christian steps on a ledge and says to his unbelieving friends,"My God would NEVER let me fall off this cliff and die!" So he steps off and dies. Did God fail him? Of course not! It was the laws that God put into place that just did their job as God intended them to, regardless of who it was that put the laws to the test. I think (I don't know because the Bible doesn't a time when Jesus will return) when the sun burns out and the earth melts with a fervent heat is when God will step in and do this mighty work of reshaping the heaven and the earth for a third and final time now that satan has been put away for good. The sun's cycle will have run its course like an old light bulb and just go out. That's when God will "replace" the bulb with a new one and New Jerusalem (the Bride) comes down from heaven onto a totally refurbished earth after it has been burned away by the sun. Bear in mind that the earth will not literally "melt". Rather it will just look like a potato that has been left in the oven for 5 hours--just a lump of ash.

When Baylon fell, did these things really happen?

Isa 13:10 For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.

I could very easily see the earth going on till the end of the sun's cycle. Then the things spoken of by Isaiah and all the others about all the lights going out would occur. Maybe you could call that hyperfuturism.

God thundereth marvellously with His voice; great things doeth He, which we cannot comprehend. (Job 37: 5)
