I go check my mail box once a week. I emptied it last night and I didn't bother skimming through it for the last 24 hours, but I just did.
There was this letter from this 12 year old girl from the Holy Land. A little background, this is one of the children whose education I've been sponsoring. It's not too much, it's about 25 bucks a month and with the exchange rate, it's huge money down there. I ran into this gentleman in 2006 who was a patriarch in Palestine and he was touring the world seeking help to help the diminishing christian minority in the holy land to sustain themselves.
It's a scribbled one page letter. She just says thanks and explains her ambitions on how she wants to be a doctor later in life. I was just reduced to a skeletal framework of emotions.
Been feeling high tonight, I did altar service at Sunday night benediction, after 16 years. The costumes were a little small for my height and the priest gave me one of his vestments.
On this day, my dead father would be proud. Has anyone done altar service in adult life? It's an amazing experience and Eastern Christians have altar boys who are generally adults.
Also, if you can, I'd recommend you to adopt a Palestinian christian child. They clearly need help and are going down in numbers rapidly, with the current conflict.
