Seems to have very high safety ratings.

Should I get one?

2009 Dodge Journey complaints, problems & defects information | CarComplaints.com
it seem is has over 71 compalints/recalls for the brakes with over half being premature brake & rotor wear which is not a good sign.

IMO for the price it might be better to get a 2-3 year old low mileage certified used honda odyssey van

The Dodge Journey is a Dodge Avenger with a wagon/crossover body. Heavier body, same wimpy engine/transmissions.

Dodge is releasing the G3 Durango in a few months. I would wait for this and be sure to get the HEMI! My wife's 2007 Durango might be for sale soon Oh, there are rumors there will be a SRT8 line with the 6.4L and 500HP.

Dodge - 2011 Durango

If you opt for the 6 cyl and 5 or 6 speed auto, they say the drivetrain isn't bad. Just pass up that 4.

No no no. Lots of vehicles have great safety rating - that doesn't mean it is a good vehicle - just a safe one.

And wait no less than a year after any new Mopar vehicles are released.

I'd get a used Lexus 2007-2008 RX350 for the money, much nicer vehicle than any Dodge. Any other vehicles you're looking at? GMC Terrain seems to be fairly popular, I see quite a few of those roaming around the Valley.

It's alright. It looks way too streamlined for me. I owned a 2004 (1st year of redesign) Durango Limited from 2004-2007. There's just something I love about aggressive, intimidating SUV's. I've always owned one of those. The new Durango looks like a tall station wagon, to me.

The GMC Terrain is far more expensive than a Journey in the real world. Around here the Journey is so discounted you'd think Dodge was having its going out of business sale. It may be nothing special but at the prices I've seen it's at least worth a look. How about the Kia Rondo? Mazda 5?
