If you get an OBD II reader and plug it in, have an assistant monitor fuel pressure while you drive. Don't try to do this by yourself, for obvious Darwin reasons, OK? Some parts stores may even loan out an OBD-II reader.

Thanks, that sounds like a great idea. I have a pretty decent OBD-tool, but it does not read fuel-pressure, dangit.

I put a free flow Cat and shorty exhaust headers on my 90 GMC and it made a HUGE difference. The free flow cat replaced the original catalytic converter which had 400,000 miles on it....
Cat ran me about 100$ installed; headers were more expensive.
