It must have been a heck of an application. $25 million was the most that could be awarded and we received it!

It's amazing how the Federal Government throws money around like they do and nobody holds them accountable when projects are delayed for years or just all together cancelled and the loss is written off.

that was a quick digression. i deal with federal money in my line of work, and there is no money with more strings attached. recipients are held accountable. if for some reason a project doesn't happen or is progressing too slowly, the government is not afraid to pull the money and cancel the project. of course, those no bid contracts relating to the iraq war are a different story. that money may as well have been burned

I guess it depends on the agency or whether you are contracted by the Feds.
I worked at a Federal Agency for 15 years and I never saw such wasteful spending as I did there. Pretty much in all aspects as well.

Well paid Interns that sat around for entire summer's not doing a single bit of work. Funding of projects that were never completed or simply cancelled when the project officer would for example decide to retire or just didn't feel like working on the project anymore. The workers in general were so bad and so unproductive I had to get out of there. A productive, motivated group of workers could have produced the exact same output with no more than half the budget than what this agency was allotted.

it does depend on the agency, you are right. though i think it is getting better, talk about the left hand not knowing what the right is doing.

So which hand is going to do this streetcar project, the left or the right?

The streetcar is like getting a pony. Everyone loves a pony, but who will feed and board it? Maybe we can put the pony in the slave pen.

The agency I worked at got worse as the year's went on. 2009 was by far the worst year I experienced there. Funding to our agency, for some unknown reason went through the roof and the output and production from the workers continued to decline.

This is a great day for Cincinnati, and a big step for improving our city, especially downtown. Sometime down the road, people will see why.
