Spent '02-'06 there. Met my wife there. Have since moved back to western NY for family, and now am in Hawaii for a job.

But.... I still find myself looking at homes in Cincy and even though I can pretty much live anywhere when we return to the mainland, I keep on drifting back to Cincy!!!

And suprisingly I want to move back more than my wife!!

I can only attribute it to:

> Good values and a "real" feel. By this I mean it would feel much more like home than say Florida. (Which is where we originally wanted to move to after Hawaii, but am always finding reasons not to)

> Sports. I envision taking my daughter to future Bengals and Reds games when she is old enough. And Cincy does like their sports teams. Unlike say Fl. where they can barely fill a stadium with a pennant contender playing.

> Affordability. I've lived in and researched alot of places. Cincy/KY is very affordable compared to even smaller cities in the NE. Gas is cheaper, you get more home for your dollar. And yes taxes are cheap. You wanna talk about high taxes, look at NYS.

> I have always thought the city was beautiful. The very first time I drove down the I-75 hill I was immediately thinking how great this city was. And compared to alot of cities it is pretty clean.

> Compared to Indianapolis, Nashvile etc. The topography of Cincy is pretty impressive. I think it only compares to Pittsburgh in terms of hills/valleys etc (of course I'm excluding Western cities). I really dislike a completely flat cities area. Florida is all flat!

> Sure Cincy doesn't have a huge nightlife, but once I got out of my 20's none of that mattered anymore. And if I need a drink I can play in the CSL or join some softball leagues...

Well, until anyone can talk me out of eventually moving back.........

You stated several good reasons why it is desirable to live here. So why would we try to talk you out of it? Florida - its boring.

my family chose to live here and moved back from a very "desirable" area in Colorado that we very much liked. before that we lived overseas. we could have stayed in Colorado or moved really anywhere in the country with my line of work. we ultimately decided we wanted to be in the midwest because we like the people and the general attitude and culture, we like the cities, and we feel at home among the sycamores and elms, and most of our family and friends are scattered throughout the midwest and east so it made visiting them a little more convenient. Cincinnati was my top choice and honestly my wife's top choice was probably Indy or maybe Cleveland. The best job offer came out of Cincy and we are thrilled to be back. We find ourselves with more to do between cultural events and friends than we have time for, which i think speaks well for the area.

this is one of America's earliest and most beautiful cities, is surrounded by picturesque hills to the south and farms to the north, is basically affordable, and has a good quality of life. the question is why wouldn't you want to live here? (just kidding, I know it isn't for everyone!)

We traveled the world courtesy of the military and could've retired anywhere we wanted. Neither of us care for FL. Loved it out West but teacher pay & cost of living are better here. Even though I live in Montgomery Co., I travel around Cincinnati nearly every day and LOVE it here!

I have come to realize that there was so much to do in Cincinnati..As beautiful as Hawai is, when it comes down to it there isn't all that much to do after seeing the sights. And being in the water everyday has it's downfalls. (although I love the water and learning to surf)

One of my favorite things was to head to the zoo. And that was before we had our daughter...I really miss that zoo! And now with the Reds winning I wish I could be back there for games. We used to go up to Mt. Adams for dinner, or to Bonefish for happy hour. I was in a flag football league and played baseball on weekends. My wife loved Brio's in Newport and Kenwood Mall (unfortunately for me and my bank account)

Yeah I'm gonna have to break the news to her. when this job opportunity ends and my old job is availible again, it's back to Cincy

I know what you mean ... This is an amazing city that has lots to do, tons of character, great sports (go Reds!), stable economy & housing market, near tons of other large cities as well (great for short get-aways) .... and the hills .... man, after living in Cincy and then visiting another city, if the city you're visiting is flat it just seems boring. The history and architecture is something other cities will never have - the downfalls Cincy have - that, they can work on (and are!).

Theater, great restaurants, sports (college and pro), Riverbend, casinos within an hour of anywhere in the area, close to an airport (well, maybe not that. CVG is one of the most expensive air hubs in the US), lots of touring singers- bands- extravagant shows (ie Cirque), beautiful scenery and more!

Ditto on what everyone has said except for the Jimmy Buffett comment. Sorry sick, I just have never understood the appeal of Buffett but then again, maybe it's more about the party than the music.
