Hello, I was looking to move to Cincinnati with me and my husband. We currently live in the Duluth area in GTR Atlanta and are looking to live in an atmosphere of similar type (suburban/country). We have been visiting since late summer and have seen basically every part of interest, but I especially loved the Westside of Cincinnati since it seems to be suburban and country (what we are looking for) and has good access to 74 (apparently the least crowded thoroughfare highway wise). We have been looking at newer subdivisions around Rybolt Rd, N Bend Rd, and Boomer Rd and we like what we see.

Although we like the area we have heard bad things about the West and we would like to hear what others have to say about it instead of recommending other parts of the city for me to move to because I am certain I want to be on this side of town. We know that there is tension between each side of town but I would like to hear what you have to say about these particular areas. I will be starting my job at the new Monfort Heights Hospital when it opens and my husband was recently laid off from his job and will be looking for a job in the area. Our price range goes from ) 0$ - 450K$ and we are very open to suggestions on this side of town. We have no kids but have one on the way!! Thank you.

Born and raised and still live in Colerain Township, just north of the areas you mention. But I went to school with people from Monfort Heights (North Bend and I-74 area) and our dentist is there too, so I am pretty familiar with the area. You will be north of the City of Cincinnati limits and should avoid most of the problems of the westside you have seen mentioned on these forums.

I like the mix of accesibility and rural feel of this area. People are generally pretty laid back and family oriented.

Welcome and ask any questions!

Westchase Park Subdivision, right off of Rybolt Rd by Wessleman sounds like where I'll see you driving around. Check it out.

I agree with the postings so far. I'm in that area often, and know people who live nearby. It's a world away from the more urban, crime-ridden parts of Westwood that you might appropriately be warned about. You should find no surprises--it's basically the pleasant suburban area it appears to be.

Welcome to "The West," CinciMover -- that part of Cincinnati and Hamilton Co. that has been least developed, but is nevertheless wide open for growth. This entire area extends as far westward as Harrison, Oh. As both sandasene & Sarah Perry have already mentioned, the "troubled areas" (what is commonly referred to as "Western Hills") is much farther inward from where you are looking at. And the much ballyhooed rivalry between the western and eastern halves of Cincy IS a long-standing, real one, but one that is more of a spitting-contest than an outright combative one -- therefore it can be both appreciated and ignored.

Correction: the crime-ridden area (as Sarah Perry mentioned) would be "Westwood," and not Western Hills (which encompasses a broader area).

Welcome to Cincinnati, CinciMover! You'll be glad to know that:

1. We have adequate snow/ice removal equipment.

2. We have Waffle Houses

3. We DON'T have kudzu

4. We don't care how they do it down inside the I-285!

We sure hope you and yours have a smooth moove and a great life here!

Responding to the post two above, it isn't fair to call westwood "crime-ridden." It is a neighborhood of well over 30,000 people and much of it is a typical, middle class, low-crime kind of place.

The west and east tensions are overblown. It's mostly i'm-just-kidding jabs here and there. But the fact is that people rarely leave "their side of town." I haven't been to the west side since house hunting over there (I chose a place on the east side). And west side folks don't venture to the east side much either.

Nice to see you doing your part for keeping the stereotypes alive.
