Hello all, I'm relocating to Cinci for my work and will be working in Kenwood at the mall. I think I want to live in the downtown area, and definitely want to stay north of the river. It is just me with no baggage. I'm originally from Boston and moved to NY about a year ago for an assignment and now possibly Cinci.

Rent: $1000-$1300, I'm looking for a nice loft style studio/one bedroom that has parking, a gym, and utilities either included or in my price range. Looking for 600-800sqft, nothing large.

Location: I want to be somewhere that has a good nightlife scene that I can walk to, a few blocks, or is a cheap cab ride. Being able to get to see sports is a plus too. Don't necessarily need a grocery store close, I work for a restaurant group.

Commute: How is the reverse commute to Kenwood? I am ok with a 20-30 min commute if I can find the above. Looks I'd be using 71N in the morning and 71S coming back around 5/6.

I think the OTR is the main area I would want but that's just from looking at Craigslist, they are flying me out to Cinci to look at places in two weeks so I want to make sure I make the correct decision. Any insight would be great. Thanks in advance.

Downtown in the CBD or in OTR. The commute to Kenwood is not bad at all. I did the reverse commute thing for a short stint to Mason from West Clifton Avenue, and it was usually around 30 minutes or so, providing there were no serious accidents.

Central Business District. It's not just a Cincy thing, it's a term for the Downtowniest part of Downtowns. Best NYC comparison is the Financial District, I guess...but obviously that is not a good comparison.

I agree with TomJones. Doesn't seem like you need to look anywhere other than Downtown and Over-the-Rhine.

I would look at Mt. Adams as well. Easy access to downtown and a nice entertainment district of its own.

This. I used to live there before I moved downtown (CBD). As far as downtown is concerned, The Renaissance and 4th & Race buildings would fit your description. Give them a look.

I'd be looking in the CBD for a building with a garage and a workout facility. It is easy enough to get to the other areas near downtown for entertainment, you don't have to live. One of my primary concerns would be the reverse commute from downtown to Kenwood. Don't want to be frequently late for work on a new job. Coming home not so important, you get there when you get there.

This cat is coming from Boston/NYC - there is nothing here that compares to commuting in either of those cities.

The funny part is when that concern washes away when someone has a job downtown. Then all of a sudden a commute is desirable, despite downtown being the worst place to drive to and the easiest place to get to without driving.
