That would be a perfect time to do it if it ever does happen again. Weekend before the game would be great. Combined with what they'll have at the convention center and the other things you can already do here, it could bring in a lot of tourists.

Tall Stacks was a very good event built around Cincinnati's river heritage. But I suspect the number of actual river boats is shrinking, time does take its toil. Perhaps what they need to consider as a more lengthy excursion which moves up and down the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers, spending some time in each port.

It would be a bit of bait-and-switch for the viewing audience for the All-Star Game. They'd see all these cool boats moored on the river during the ASG broadcast and they wouldn't be there when they visit.

I just can't see that as a problem. If the viewers pay any attention at all, when the cameras pan the river for shots of the boats the commentary should note it is a singular event. For previous Tall Stacks I was never disillusioned it was a constant event.

My prior suggestion of a traveling event I believe has warrant. Now Cincinnati does not grab all the glory, which I know some would object to. What I visualize is a summer long event with the boats moving from city to city. I can see a gathering in St Louis, moving to Louisville, then Cincinnati and on to Pittsburgh. Obiously you have to come back down the river. So if the ASG broadcast could announce the return visit of the Tall Stacks exhibit to Cincinnati later in the season there would be absolutely no bait-and-switch.

The river cities need to get together and develop a coordinated plan good for all. I know the deployment of many boats, operating costs, service crew, etc. must be expensive. So you must spread those costs across a longer season so the ticket prices are not excessive.

I don't see any messages posted since 2014. Does anyone here know if they are considering doing the Tall Stacks in Cincinnati again at all? I did not get to attend one and would be interested. I understand there is a similar one in Marietta Ohio
