The Federal government wants to break the backs of states. It is the essence of the progressive movement. The feds impose obligations but force the states to pay for unfunded mandates, all the while squandering federal tax revenues on pork barrel crony-capitalism schemes.

I weep for the future.

Every new bridge or freeway in American is going to have tolls from this point on. We can not deficit spend til eternity to build our cities how we do. Louisville's 2 new bridges will have tolls, Denver and Houston have tolls on new belt lines, Baltimore has a toll bridge, etc.

I totally agree with this position. I-75 and the Brent Spence bridge were both part of the interstate highway system and are fed projects. As such, the feds should have been monitoring the use all the way. Now all of a sudden we are being told the bridge is a KY problem, not exclusively as Ohio also plays a part relative to approaches, etc.

But this is not logical. The feds were responsible for the construction and monitoring of the use. This should have included any renovation/expansion required. Somehow it is now being construed as a states' problem.

The federal highway system is the backbone of the economy for this country, and yes its requirements should come first. Then everyone else gets in line, air travel, trains, bicycles, etc. But the federal highway system has first dibs.
