We will be flying into los angeles, the. Decided to drive from there. We are in no hurry and would like a scenic route wherewe can stop by here and there to enjoy must see or do things along the way. We would like our road trip to be a vacation, we can take as much as a week or longer.

Can anyone suggest a good route and must see things or do. Even if we have to stay overnight or two to enjoy?

Grand Canyon in Aridzona. Brice Canyon in Utah. Drive to the Denver area and enjoy the scenery of the Rocky Mountains along the way.

In the Winter you will be taking the southern route (I-40) and avoiding Denver, the northern route, etc. (I-70). It is a nightmare in theWinter.

Visit Sedona. And, as you go through Albuquerque take a side trip north to Santa Fe, one of the best cities to visit by car in the US. Then when you get to Nashville, stay an extra day. Very entertaining. And, continue on to the Smokey Mountain National Park. Winter is the only time to see Gatlinburg. It is an annoying tourist trap in the summer but in the Winter it turns into a very charming town and the Mountains will be passable as long as you pay attention to the weatherman. The scenery there is beautiful. If you are staying there, drive through the mountains to Ashville. Very cool.

The best advice I can offer is to come into Cincy from KY over the Brent Spence bridge through the "cut in the hill". The city will pop out - and hopefully wow you!

Otherwise, if your kids like caves, Mammoth Cave in KY is a must-see, and possibly the Corvette museum and factory too depending on whether or not they are big into cars (I was at that age, but trends change a lot over 10-15 years). I've never been west of Chicago so I can't offer advice on anywhere else.

Good luck!

Hello folks, the next few words may be a little sensitive. We mean no offense to anyone. We ran ilnto blogs that indicated cincy as a prejudiced city. There were testimonials of folks whio claim to have been mistreated, descriminated upon and other negative expeiriences attributing the incidents to them ot being caucasians. Cross burning? Hpw crazy was that to say? There was a comment that imdicated that this mayha e been true a while back ut things have changed when a new sheriff came into power.

We do not believe thst there are truth to any of these comments. We do not believe them, but we would like your thoughts and comments...

We do not wish to create any animosity. We are simply sharing what others have shared openly. We mean no disrespect to anyone, just something very important for us to know more anout.

We would appreciate all your thoughts and comments.

There hasn't been any cross burning in the Cincinnati area in 20 years, and when it happened, it was 30 miles north in Middletown.

Can you post some of those links? As the previous poster there was a cross burning way up in Butler County. The city itself is 50/50 white/black, while there are several neighborhoods that are clearly black or white there are plenty of that are very diverse (P Ridge, OTR, E Walnut Hills, Northside). 4 of the 9 city council members are black and the NAACP just picked Cincy for their 2016 Conference.

But , people can make the case the organizations like 3CDC have been pushing poor blacks out of OTR. There are plenty of racist comments on the papers website, but they might just be trolling. I don't know of any really big race problem going on here. Full discretion, I am a white male though.

There is a majority of the City population of persons of color or foreign born in Cincinnati. Many of these folks are grievance oriented minorities that blame their economic, cultural and social hardships on white persons. I would say that their level of anger and apparent hatred rises to a level that could be described as racial hatred. Our recent racial hate crimes have all been committed by persons of color against white persons. A few minutes of listening to our local aggrieved minority radio talk station, WBDZ, AM1230, the Buzz of Cincinnati, will confirm this. However, one need not fear this aggrieved minority as long as one keeps one's wits about one. There are plenty of sensible persons of color in Cincinnati that make this a well diversified community, offering a richness of cultural experiences regardless of one's race or ethnicity.
