Just to inform anyone that is confused. We will kill this topic once and for all.

CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA is the REAL Queen City. I have a few buddies from Cinchy, and they had to respect the facts....

#1.... Charlotte was founded BEFORE Cincinnati

#2...this is a BIG one...Charlotte is named after an ACTUAL QUEEN. SO please my dear friends in Cincinnati....leave the "REAL Queen City" argument alone...that is all. If you don't believe me, please do your research.

First in time is like saying the real Anne Hathaway is the one married to William Shakespeare in 1570 A.D.

We won the Civil War lead by two Ohioans, U.S. Grant and William Tecumseh. To the victor goes the spoils.

What has this got to do with anything? Pointless and tasteless to say the least. Why is it the only part of the country I hear this kind of nonsense still is in the Midwest? BTW. I'm from Connecticut, not the South. The war ended 150 years ago. Enough.

Charlotte hardly even has a river.
And our university has a stand-alone name, unlike the satellite school in Charlotte. No "Ohio State - Cincinnati" for us!
Cincy has Kings Island as well as the revived Coney Island. Charlotte has "Carowinds" and the ruins of a theme park built by scandalized televangelists (is that redundant?)
Where did the Charlotte Symphony and Pops Orchestras go on their last tour? Or are there any?

Cincinnati can claim nasty chili, and Charlotte can claim nasty vinegary BBQ, so that at least is a toss-up. WE, however, have far better ice cream.

Maybe the OP would like to visit the forum for New York City and start some Queens College trash talk? (Never mind that the school in NC calls itself a university now.)

Having lived in both, Cincinnati is a far better city than Charlotte...I will never refer to Charlotte as the Queen City...only Cincinnati

OP, I think you're missing the point that cities often share "common nicknames" for themselves.

Cincy is called the Queen City because of its history as being the largest city in the Northwest Territories in the early 1800's. Charlotte is called the Queen City because of its British ties. For more info (with somehat questionable authenticity), check Wikipedia:
Queen City - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In fact, Cincy and Charlotte aren't the only two Queen cities within an 8-hour drive of each other. At nearly the same distance as Charlotte from Cincy, Toronto is also considered the Queen city, along with a myriad of smaller cities inbetween. For another city of the same to larger size as both Cincy and Charlotte, try Denver. It's a queen city, too.
