Ledgewood Drive (transitioning to Woodburn Ave at Dana) marks the boundary of North Avondale and Evanston starting at Victory Parkway and going south. That's the street which was dead-ended to knit the campus together. It's also Evanston south of Dana, from the parkway east. West and north of the parkway it's all (North) Avondale. And, just ahead of Montgomery Rd going east - again along Dana - Evanston gives way to Norwood.
For those unfamiliar and therefore confused - Victory Parkway runs diagonally across XU's western and northwestern reaches. That's why you see mentions of streets crossing it in seemingly all directions.
My "TMI" nerd post of the day so far!

XU's urban presence hasn't been completely positive. For "future development" (so far it's just a grassy area) people at the school ordered a crew to roll up in literally the dead of night to raze a replica Italian villa which was originally built for a Cincinnati-born star of silent movies. More recently it had been used for honor-student housing for which there was a perpetual waiting list. ("...so cool to take a shower and be looking at Rookwood tiles!" went part of a remembrance posted online after the stealth tear-down.) They've also done a number on tree-lined Ledgewood, taking out still more rambling old houses - utilized and sought after by student groups - as well as the trees for generic high-density dorms. When all's said and done, though, it was their property and their prerogative. By and large, I'm fully behind Xavier's tangible commitment to stay where they've always been while keeping with the times. Norwood and North Avondale in particular have benefited immeasurably from the university's being where it is. Had they bailed it would've held dire consequences for the latter neighborhood and definitely slowed down progress in the former. What has always helped XU remain a secure environment is the surroundings - there's never been any significant amount of commercial activity in the immediate area, not until approaching Montgomery Rd. It's always been just houses and small apartment buildings, most of which (along Dana anyway) were bought up by the school a long time ago. ("The computer science labs need to be expanded AGAIN? OK, we can relocate the Dead Slavic Languages department offices into the house at 1231 Dana." lol)

To the OP: Congrats on getting in!

Do not be so sure. Physical barriers are not much of a barrier at all. The greatest barrier is distance. And if a campus is within walking distance to where less desireables reside the risk remains.
