We used to own a condo in the Oakbrook area back when Comair and Delta were still going strong in CVG....

10 years ago the rental market in that area was pretty good with all the pilots and flight attendants looking for temporary or long term housing. I am curious if that area (Burlington/Florence) was still a descent place to own a condo as a rental?

Back then we owned a 2 bed/1.5 bath 2 story within walking distance to Oakbrok Country Club.. Paid just over $100k... If the rental market was still descent I may like to possibly purchase in the area again.

Thanks

PS.. I realize this should be under the KY forum, but traffic seems much greater here

CVG was eviscerated by the closing of the Delta hub. Its a ghost town.

Don't agree with you. CVG is coming back simply because it is a great facility, great location central to about the entire eastern US, part of a major corporate business center, and what else do you want? CVG will recover, not because it is a Delta hub but because it is adjacent to one of the best business centers in this country.

I love your optimism.

Here is an article that sums it up pretty well.

First of all you are citing an article 5 years old!

If that is how you judge our future, SOBIT. I prefer to look at a brighter future, just a difference of opinion.

CVG will be a functioning airport when those eastern landlocked obstacles will be shutdown. We have to recognize they are Not Building More Land! That is a pure and simple fact.

The land at CVG is a gift from God. So Delta ran their string there? How many other airlines have done the same across the country?

Fact is, CVG is a prime location from so much of the Eastern US. And Cincy is not a doff business location, they will be back.

Sorry if I am Pro-Cincy, just don't see any reason not to be.

Oh, that is sad. That article explains exactly what happened and predicted 5 years ago exactly what we have today. I like you KJ, but you have to keep an open mind.

OK, but knocking one of the best locations in the country for an airport is not to me an open mind. CVG will be back as land prices increase and it is recognized what a valuable property they have.

CVG is a great location and has great access. But, Delta and Comair created a massive business there which they have abandoned never to return. So, while I'd like to see something develop, I do not see it happening.

OP, I would check with a local Realtor that specializes in rentals and the NKY market.

CVG isn't what it once was, so I doubt you'll find the same people of a particular profession as your tenants. Doesn't mean it still isn't a great rental market, but due to distance, wouldn't be my first choice.

At least we aren't Memphis (yet).
