Bob's response was, "Well, not really."

If what happened on WTVN gives any indication, they'll hire someone completely pedestrian and unlistenable. But then again, they have a back up on WKRC and they can always move Jerry Thomas Jr. (forget his first name) into that spot.
Mike McConnell is taking over Scott's spot on WLW. He is far from being pedestrian and has a long history here. While his style is different than Scott's, I think he'll do well.

McConnell's schtick is old, but we'll see. Bob Connors, and to a lesser extent Jim Scott, were both brilliant as morning people because they used what I call the Clint Eastwood approach, which is minimalism. They actually said very little. Give no opinions, everything positive - They were more like TV anchormen. Connors on Saturday Morning Open Phones was brilliant - both guys know how to get out of the way and let other people do the talking. McConnell, not so much.

Talk radio just goes from bad to worse. I'm sure Jim Scott was a fine DJ years ago when he played music, but I never had any use for him and his show on WLW, which always seemed to be 75 percent advertising and 25 percent information.

Personally, I like advertising as long as it is not offensive in nature. Have heard about job openings in the area and also products or services I may be able to use when I hopefully move there. While some of the subjects that the on air people at WLW delve into can be a bit much (too racy for the time slots) when the talk turns to real news and politics complete with guests from the local area then the station becomes a valuable commodity.

And bear in mind, businesses need to be patronized by local people. The best way to let a potential customer know about a sale or a new product or service is through advertising on radio, television or the local newspaper.

Well, he has had his last show today. I am sorry I couldn't hear it. I can say every time I sent him an email, he would always answer back. Listened to him through the 70s and later when I had the chance. Really liked him!

Jim retired on his own choosing. He went out on top. Top advertising dollars for WLW of any show, including Cunningham
