Hi,
I saw a name in the obits on Fri. or Sat. of a man that lived across the hall from us. I would babysit his kids on ocassion. The name was Jack Owens. I always thought it was funny that his name was John and they called him Jack. I loved his wifes name Bernice, I remember that they had a white dog (german shepard I think).

Hello Everybody, I haven't been in here for a few days , then I come on here and we are on page 2 ..what happened? I have been trying to find information on Stratford Manor ..I got some too ..I can forward it to anyone who wants it. You can send me a message to keep your info private. Some of it is on Adobe, I don't know if this can be put on the thread though. I guess if it was in the paper then it can be on here. I don't know all the legal stuff. I found it interesting though.
A.F.D. & Swananoe.. I have some information that will be emailed to me tommorow about the accident that Connie Woosley died from..It should have everyones name on it that was in the accident and those that passed. I'll let you all know when I get it.
ChiDiana, I was talking with my brother tonight and he said he didn't remember anything about Eastwoods school colors, but he said one year Eastwood was competing with other schools in track or something and they wanted to have matching shirts, so the math teacher drew an eagle using the one from the back of a quarter and thats what was on all the shirts. Maybe this will stir some memories of other events. I'll check back Hyden

A flurry of posts on other threads bumped this one over to page two.

Good to hear you had some luck finding more info about the Manor. Just curious, but did you happen to come across anything about whether the Manor ran any 'Apartment For Rent' ads?

NightBazaar, I did get an article that talks about the apartments. It states that the apts. are $75.00 if ref. & stove are furnished then it's $80.00, and bungalows are $85.00. One requirement was that you couldn't have more than 3 children. LOL that soon changed.. my sister was born in 56 and i don't remember us hiding her. Hyden

Hyden, I will do my best sometime to find the pictures Ronnie wants. They are on slides and boy do we have a bunch of them from my Dad's collection. I enjoyed our chat, also. So that's what happened, your batteries ran out!! I thought we were cut off.

This is my Mom, Dessie, who worked at the drugstore for years. This picture was probably taken 10 years after she left the drugstore--when it closed.

This is a current picture of Kingsley Dr. The pictures I posted earlier are of the new location for Eastwood Dr. Eastwood deadends into Kingsley. You can turn right or left onto Kingsley. The Coca Cola Bottling Co. is to the right and to the left is 5/3rd Bank and the MRDD school which sets on the land where Thriftway, drugstore, barbershop, nursery school use to sit.

Corner of Eastwood Dr. and Kingsley is the George Schafer Operations and I have no idea what the business does. If you turn down Kingsley to the left past this building, it runs deadend into the MRDD school.

I'll post more later. At this rate, it will take me years to get them posted as I think I took 100 pictures!! I still have the Children's Home and the rest of the area to post.... bear with me!!

ShawnoeTrail, nice photos. The ones showing Kingsley Drive are interesting. The number 5049 is the address number of the apt building we lived in.
