I'm thinking about going to Kings Island by the end of the summer and was wondering how does it stack up against Cedar Point. I've been to Cedar Point on several occasions and enjoyed every bit of it, but now I want to try Kings Island. If you could- just give me a couple of tips about the park and perhaps the best places to stay and other amenities

thanks in advance ~Noid~

Kings Island has a lot of great roller coasters, but its not "America's Roller Coast." Cedar Point has the most roller coasters in the world, so its hard to compete with that. Kings Island has many great activities for everyone, and there is a lot going on all around the park. Your also not far from bustling Cincinnati.

I am sure you have already looked here:

King's Island is definitely worth a trip down for. Tons of old and new thrill rides/roller coasters as well as other great rides/attractions for the less adventurous of us including the Nickelodeon section of the park. There's also a decent-sized water park free with park admission. The best time to come is during the week, and get there when the park opens at 10 and leave when it closes at 10 (short lines for the early morning and late night crowd).

Kings Island does not sit on a Great Lake.

'nuff said.

Kings Island is fine for a day trip.

Cedar Point - we always spent at least two. But I'm a townie here now, so I have my yearly pass to KI (we go during the Halloween Haunt).

You'll want to stay either right by the park (great wolf lodge - terribly expensive but within walking distance) - or probably nearby in Mason/Deerfield Twp. We stayed at the new Hyatt on Mason/Montgomery right by Natorp...

KI is fun for a day. To me - much more of an "urban" feel than Cedar Point. CP does a really good job of making the different areas of the park feel separate - lots of walking down sparsely inhabited trails with just a few prop stores and trees (by the sawmill). KI - everything is much closer together and I don't get that feeling of separation. Still a nice day's adventure though!

Hope you have fun on your visit!
