^^#25 could have been Renaissance Boston Waterfront.
but to leave out The Verb is doing young people (bad) who
might otherwise not consider its incredible atmosphere, value,
and proximity to so many colleges & Fenway Park.

NYC
LA basin
Chicago
SF/ Boston/ Miami/ DC all close
Honolulu/ & Islands
Las Vegas?

Miami might have an argument for top tier, particularly if you look at the MSA as I assume we are doing for the LA “basin.”
5 Ritz Carlton
4 Four Seasons
2 Conrad
1 St Regis
1 Mandarin Oriental
1 1 Hotel
1 Edition
1 Loews
1 Setai (only US property)
This is before we even get to some of their more exclusive resorts such as Acqualina (often ranked as top 3 resorts in the country), 5 Star Faena (where rooms typically fetch $1500 - 7000 this time of year), Turnberry Resort & Spa, Nobu Hotel, Breakers Palm Beach, Eau Palm Beach, Biltmore, Boca Raton Beach Resort, Fisher Island Hotel & Resort, Carillon, and others.

More like 6-8. There are several rating systems for luxury hotels (5-stars, AAA, etc.), but the consensus of the top 4 (based on # of offerings) is...
New York
Miami
LA
DC
I'd have to dig for numbers, but Chicago is likely #5.
Id say Boston is moving up the ladder.
The only raffles in North America just opened. St Regis just opened. Ritz residences under construction. The Langham was just redone. One of few cities with two four seasons (literally within a mile of each other).
You would need a pretty current rating system. It may be 5-8 but it couldn’t be based off pre 2023 ratings.

Yes, moving up the ladder (and an impressive lineup), but likely outside of the top 5 (my original point). And NYC, Miami, LA, Chicago, and DC aren't at a standstill in terms of new or renovated luxury hotels either.
(Also, I think the St. Regis in Boston is condos not a hotel. The newest St. Regis hotel in the US opened in Chicago in 2023.)
South Station Tower will be Boston's 3rd 'Ritz Carlton residence' tower,
and join the three 'Millennium residence' towers in Boston.

I guess San Antonio has 3 now... The St. Anthony (Luxury Collection), Grand Hyatt and the Intercontinental should be finished this year.
9 if the JW Marriott Resort, La Cantera resort, Hyatt resort, Thompson, Kimpton and Hotel Emma count. Emma is a boutique, but far and away the nicest hotel in the city. Seems to be the go to when celebrities are in town. Might be the only "5 star" hotel in the city core too.
It's really a shame the the W proposal never got off the ground. Would have been a great addition to the Pearl area.
