Okay. Enough comparisons for a second and lets share in our hometown's celebration over the one thing that makes MOST of the cities talked about in these forums great...they're AMERICAN! (I say most b/c big foreign cities are talked about in here too like Paris, London, Tokyo, etc.)

Post pics of your hometown's 4th of July celebration. For us here in Houston it was "Freedom Over Texas". These are just a few that a buddy of mine took of one of the concert stages in the festival. I think the head liner was Pat Green this year w/ a bunch of local bands playing too. I'll try to find more later of the actual fireworks amongst the skyline.

I can't find any of the actual fireworks amongst the skyline. If any Houstonians out there have stellar shots, throw 'em up!

I love the Pittsburgh fireworks, have been there several times. I'm not good at posting pictures, I'll have to post a link. Here's a small-town celebration that's really neat:

Philly does a huge 4th of July event (really almost a two week celebration) In some ways kind of the cities thing and multiple nights of fireworks

Welcome America

This year Philly's own roots are playing on the Parkway for the 4th - typically this concert draws around a million people for the concert, orchestra, and fireworks.

Huntington Beach (downtwon Area) is a genuine Home town celebration. Largest Parade west of the Mississippi. Activities, beach Parties, Bonfires, the annual burning of the couches, drunks with firecrackers. And a great Fireworks show at the pier.

A pretty good time.

Boston has a fantastic 4th of July celebration on the Charles River Esplanade. There's usually two days of stuff going on there, including on the Fourth when there is a guest performer (this year it's Lionel Richie), a performance by the Boston Pops, and a fireworks display.

Good picture

I don't live in DC anymore but the fourth there is great. You can not only go to the mall to watch the fireworks. But you can pop fireworks well into the night anywhere throughout the city. Most cities you can't do that.

Well, we're quite eager to experience our first July 4 in the city that invented July 4.
