The Third Ward or East Side of Milwaukee are exactly what you are describing.

Yes, we love our dogs in Denver. But there are breed restrictions in the city and I think Aurora (Pitbulls I assume). Denver and Boulder are about 30 minutes apart. There are numerous dog parks between Denver and Boulder. Boulder has a policy that if you pay like 10-20 bucks watch a video they'll give your dog a tag that allows you to let them off leash in a lot of the parks in Boulder county. Westminster has a 420 acre dog park. too many others to mention. The weather is a mixed bag. This week for example: last Saturday is was in the high 70s, today it is snowing. Last year on Thanksgiving we ate dinner outside as it was in the 70s. From late September through April the weather is extremely unpredictable. It is very warm. This is one of the sunniest areas of the country with little to no humidity. Boulder is extremely expensive but many consider it worth the expense. Denver has all the sports, concerts nightlife etc. I believe overall this is a liberal area, we just elected a democrat governor and reelected a democrat senator. We have legalized mmj which tends to be an indicator of a liberal leaning state. There are towns in between Denver and Boulder that tend to be a little more affordable but put you within 15 min of both. Louisville is a cute town. The "downtown" area has the small town feel (with a good dog park).
