I will re-post this since it seems to have been lost in the photo spamming.

I don't have time to find a bunch of pics for Nashville, but here's Gwyneth Paltrow's thoughts about Nashville:
I just spent a few months living and working in Nashville, Tennessee which was an incredible experience. As I’m apt to do, I researched, ate, drank, tried, and asked my way around the city ‘til I found the best spots it has to offer. Never have I met such warm people, heard such good music, eaten so much fried chicken...I could go on and on. This week’s letter will cover the music/food and next week's will cover the rest. It's pretty easy to get to if you live in the good ol’ US of A as it’s kind of smack dab in the middle (well, not really, but almost) and is so worth a trip. It's pretty damn great.
She liked Nashville so well she devoted 2 weeks of her blog to Nashville. Paris, London, LA, etc. all got one.
That's one of the cool things about Nashville- celebrities everywhere, but people leave them alone. Nicole Kidman was in our old Mommy and Me gymnastics class. A major music star has a child in my children's school, he was sitting behind us a few weeks ago at a school function. They are part of the fabric of Nashville. And were a huge part of the recovery after our May flood.
I recently went to the Country Music Hall of Fame concert that Keith Urban puts together- Dolly Parton and John Mayer in the same concert! It was so fun. There is always something going on in Nashville and you never know who you are going to see.
I wouldn't consider Worlds of Fun/Oceans of Fun to be "major" theme parks.
Major "regional" parks. They are decent paks. Better than what Denver has, as good or better than what St Louis has. I'm not talking Disney World or even Cedar Point, but they are good regional parks. Does Indy have one? I actually don't know. Nashville used to (Opryland?), but it closed right?
I forget how big metro KC is. It's over 2 million, so a city would have to have 4 million and have less to do. I may have to take that one back. Phoenix maybe? It may not have more to do, but it's right there with cities of twice it's size (Minneapolis, Seattle etc) and it seems to have more to do than most cities of around 2 million people.
Yes, Opryland is closed. We do have a water park here but I have never been. My kids went with camp this summer and said it was fun. I don't think it's very big though.
Are you counting Worlds Of Fun/Oceans of Fun as 2 seperate parks?
A good water park/theme park don't make one city seem bigger or better than another. If that was true, people would think of Santa Claus, Indiana as being bigger & better than Indy.

Of course not, but I think it adds to the overall package of quality of life to some degree to have attractions like that within your metro area. It's far from a deal breaker though. Oceans of Fun is one of the country's larger water parks. KCK on the Kansas side is also building a Schlitterbaun water park. They just add to the entertainment package like museums, sports teams etc.
Speaking of sports teams, KC is also building a soccer stadium for KC's MLS club (Sporting KC now) and the area has minor league teams like arena football, hockey and baseball. AFL plays at Sprint Center while the minor league hockey and baseball teams play in suburban venues. I'm sure Nashville and Indy probably have some of that too.

Indy does not, and probably could not support a major park given the close proximity to King's Island and Holiday World/Splashin' Safari.
