It's much smaller than Charlotte. It doesn't have major pro sports teams. (Besides the Lookouts!)

I would compare it more to Raleigh or Durham. Or Columbia, SC.

A lot of comparison is seen between Asheville, NC and Chattanooga. Asheville is a little smaller but similarly focused on regional tourism, outdoor activities, green living, local arts, etc.

I certainly did not get the same vibe from Asheville as Chattanooga. Is that a local marketing ploy to be more like Asheville?

Chattanooga feels more blue collar in nature than Huntsville to me. In appearance, it's probably closer to Bham than Huntsville, but more like a smaller, less cosmopolitan version of Knoxville if anything. IDK, I guess it depends on the individual, but Huntsville has a more polished look IMO although they share somewhat similar settings.

Huntsville and Birmingham are more akin if you really look deeply into it.
