Yes, I agree. Similar to the LA CSA, a great deal of the land total of the Sacramento CSA is completely rural, mountainous, open land which would distort density calculations. Also, It should be noted that less the 47,000 people in Neveda are part of the SAC CSA.

Philadelphia

1,526,026.

Population gain 8,546. Haha not much but its the first census period since 1950 where Philadelphia has had an + increase in population.

Honestly this is good news, my fears were the city would show a decrease and just a little gain is some good PR and a little shot in the arm. I will be very interested to see the growth in the core as there are areas that lost a lot of population over the last decade - Good news in my Opinion

I think this re-affirms that somewhere in the mid 2000s the tend reversed and seems to have maintained steam

well congrats on the gain.

we were both off by .02M

The official numbers were still lower than the 2010, 2009, 2008 and 2007 estimates for the city, which confirms my belief that the 2008 challenge was overkill

yeah well; reagrdless is still good in my book and Philly isnt going to grow at any astromical rates; but positive movement is a good thing for the city

guess we will see on the MSA

I agree, this is really good news. Any ideas on what parts of the city gained the most? I would assume CC grew significantly. I'm curious to see the detailed numbers, and for the metro too.

Good job Philly. Finally a bright spot after 5 decades of population decline. Let's hope this keeps up.

I think Philly should challenged the count like Houston is planning on to. I think Philly's participation rate was very low.

Not that I disagree with the concept of challenging the numbers, but PA had participation rates higher than the national average.

2010 Census Mail Participation Rate Map - 2010 Census

Did you hear that participation was lower in Philly specifically?

The PA county that did impress me was Montgomery County with almost 800,000 residents. That's very impressive.
