Good grief, is there any question?

Folks who make statements such as THESE in 2011 are why the south loses respect.

Even if its true, I will still not support the South and I am happy the North invaded and ended it. I wouldn't have it any other way. If it takes force it takes force.

do you not understand at all? noone here is supporting slavery but stating the fact that the south was lawful from slavery to secession, the union was hypocritical, and they had no right in intervening in the matter as it was lawful. whether or not you agree with slavery isn't the matter, the matter is that the south was constitutional and that's all that matters.

it is true. that's my point. so, is this the only constitutional states rights matter you don't support, or do you pick and choose on a case by case basis what you want to force down other states throats not based on constitution, but on emotions?

how so? you're not giving me much here, maybe because your argument can be so easily debunked.

I pick based on what helps ME. If I was alive in 1860, I would have been a slave. That argument of "slaves are property" doesn't work with me. The fact is, these slaves are still human beings and when human lives are treated like crap and the state government does nothing about it, or worse, allows it, then the federal government better step and and defend those people. Being a slave in the USA meant not having a say in your life. How is it fair for some human beings to have rights and other human beings not to have rights??

Even better, how does it help me?? At the end of the day, I have ME to worry about.

The way I see it, not everyone in the South is horrible. I think for me, however, I have had alot of bad memories. My father is a Midwesterner and I get some of my mannerisms(and dialect) from him. People around me say coke. I say pop. As for the bad memories, my father had this to say. According to him, I might have been traumatized by what I went through in high school. I can't say this isn't true.

As for the South, if there is any Southern state I would live in, it would be Virginia, specifically NoVa. Otherwise, there are other places I want to see. I would like to go back to the Pacific Northwest. I have thought about giving Canada a try.
