WHy compare these 2 cities? Totally different. Philly is obviously older, more established...east coast thinking. Seattle, a Pacific Rim city. Both are great cities.

Seattle will eventually have an economic meltdown when prices on everything get to high. its not a matter of IF its just WHEN.

As far as the household income thing goes all places are pretty much similar in regards to income/cost of living. When I worked in DC I made $60,000 a yr, when I came back to Portland my income dropped by $15000 but I still had more spending money and a bigger apartment at the end of the day.

As far as the airports go Seattle has a geographical advantage being the northern most major city in the NW. Usually its the airlines and not necessarily local traffic that determines an airports traffic.
Lol economic meltdown because prices on everything get too high? What theory of economics purports this idea?

Philly is definitely going through an exciting time right now. A lot is getting built, there are several new parks, streetscape improvements, and transportation improvements that are currently underway, or will be in the relatively near future. It's great to see the city "taking back" areas that were left to rot in the 1950-2000 era, when suburban expansion was favored. I think this century will see a reverse trend, where cities are favored to suburbs, because it is more economical. In this, Philly has a huge advantage because it has the urban bones to become an even more amazing city. Also, I don't think slow growth is a bad thing. It keeps things relatively stable around here, the traffic and infrastructure improvements are more manageable. Growth is not the be all end all... A city has to serve the people who live there, and I think Philly does just that.

Haha, so 360+ million people are moving to seattle? You said everyone! And how is progressive good? Obama is very progressive and look where it has gotten us? Texas is very conservative and is booming, just look at the growth of cities like Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, and San Antonio.
