Also, NY should get a % reduction in total votes, considering that there are dozens of shell accounts that will vote for it...

I guess the NY cities tend to be pretty dense and plenty to offer for their size. It is easier to enjoy NY State as it is only 30th in land size and varies in natural landscape.

There's actually quite a bit to do in basically all of the cities that were listed in CA, though.

Just because CA is bigger doesn't mean it's harder to enjoy as a state. You can drive from LA to SF in six hours up the 5, or nine hours up Pacific Coast Highway and see a portion of the best stretch of coastline in the US. Or you can drive from LA to San Diego in about an hour and a half. You can drive out to the high desert...

You can drive to the beach...

You can drive to the Santa Monica Mountains...

It's really, really easy to enjoy all the nature in CA. At least if not moreso than it was back in Boston and NYC

Cali easily beats NY State, in every aspect except economy (which they are tied on), national impact, more national influence, & more important to U.S. Many forget that NYC is in NY & they try to separate the two in to different entries. Cali has two important regions, but neither are as important to the globe as NY is.

I love the Cali tourism commercial that comes on here in NC, stating that everyone in Cali isn't this or that, then it contradicts itself by showing someone who is. That shows the overall quality of life which is better than NY and just about any state in America. You can get a lot done in just LA County alone from the beaches to the mountains, to the wealthiest areas in the planet to the poorest places in America. It's something for everyone.

So I voted for Cali.

Btw to Cali people, do you guys ever see any Northeast State tourism commercials? How are they?

Compare:

Cities - Tie. NYC is not only the number 1 city in the US, it's also a top 3 city in the world, if not number 1. However, the rest of the cities in NY state don't match up. Cali has LA and San Fran, which are both top 10 cities in the US. So NY has the best city, but Cali has 2 great cities. It evens out.

Economy - California. Cali has the higher GDP. NY has it beat when it comes to per capita income though.

Nation Impact - NY. What happens on Wall Street and the United Nations Headquarters day to day effects everybody living in the United States. Actually, it effects almost everybody living on EARTH. Nothing in the great state of California has a similar claim.

More National Influence: NY. Not much difference between this and "Nation Impact"

Sports: NY. Mainly due to history. NY's sports teams have been around a LOT longer than most California teams. Heck, some of California's current teams used to be NY teams.

Weather: NY, but this is a personal preference. I enjoy having 4 seasons. A lot of people enjoy sunny and warm all year long, so they would prefer Cali.

More Important to U.S.: NY. See "Nation Impact". If our enemies want to hurt America, NY is where they attack.

Quality of Living: Tie: Completely subjective.

Cost of Living: Tie. Both are way too expensive.

Food: NY. In terms of variety and quality, NY wins.

Beaches: California. Not even close.

Overall NY State won for me, but it's mainly due to NYC being what it is. This thread should probably have been titled "LA + SF Vs NYC" because that's what the majority of people are going to argue on. I mean, really, nobody NOT living in Buffalo cares about Buffalo... I bet the majority of people on CD couldn't name 10 other cities in NY OR Cali (Besides NYC, Cali, SF) without googling it.

Pro Teams:

15 California (49ers, Raiders, Chargers, Giants, A's, Dodgers, Angels, Padres
Warriors, Kings, Lakers, Clippers, Sharks, Kings, Ducks)

9 New York (Giants, Jets, Bills, Yankees, Mets, Knicks, Rangers, Islanders, Sabres

Pro Titles:

43* NYS (3 Giants, 1 Jets, 27 Yankees, 2 Mets, 2 Knicks, 4 Rangers, 4 Islanders)

26 CAL (5 49ers, 3 Raiders, 1 Giants, 5 Dodgers, 11 Lakers, 1 Warriors, 1 Ducks)

*teams currently in NYS only, or frankly it'd be more.

Most NCAA Division I titles (men and women):

1. USC, California
2. Stanford, California
3. UCLA, California

Top 10 All Star Producing States | Latest

1. California - No surprise here, as the state of California produces more stars than any other. In the past decade, Cali has produced over 100 all-stars in the three major sports. While Florida has more NFL pro bowlers, California has more NBA and MLB all-stars than any other state. In fact, the 55 MLB all-stars from California is more than the second, third, and fourth states combined.

(NYS did not crack the top 10)

Olympiads Hosted: California 2, NYS 0
Super Bowls Hosted: California 11, NYS 0
World Cup Finals Hosted: California 1, NYS 0

Cities California. Two global cities (one which is the 12th largest CSA in the world) beat one, even if it is NYC.
Economy California
Nation Impact New York lately, but not in a good way lately (Wall St.)
More National Influence California. Don't believe me? Google it.
Sports California
Weather California
More Important to U.S. Tie, they're both very important in different ways
Quality of Living California
Cost of Living New York State
Food California, the largest agricultural region in the U.S. by far, doesn't lose to anyone here.
Beaches California

Easy win for California.

Hey, why don't you start a CA vs. RI poll! CA could REALLY kick some ass on that one!
